Just wanted to start off by saying that this is one of the best Hunter sites i have seen yet. Keep up the great work.
Well after a long run (+- 3 years) Playing an Orc Lock i decided the other day that its time for a change as i was pretty fed up with moving raid guilds due to disbanding and politics.
Having played ranged DPS - i decided that i would like to roll a Hunter. Haaving played all of the horde quests and zones i decided to roll Alliance and could not quite make a decision between a NElf and Dwarf. After reading a couple of forums from various sites, i rolled the NElf.
While i am loving the Hunter class mechanics and your macro's from huntsmanslodge.com i just keep thinking to myself that i made a mstake in rolling the NElf.
In saying this i also cant get it over my heart to delete her as she is now lvl 20 and has a personality of her own.
So what do you guys rate looking as the racials?? Which is the better race?
- Shadowmeld : Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect, 2 minute cooldown.
- Quickness : Reduces the chance that melee and ranged attackers will hit you by 2%.
- Wisp Spirit : Transform into a wisp upon death, increasing speed by 75%.
- Nature Resistance : Reduces the chance you will be hit by Nature spells by 2%.
- Stoneform : Activate to remove poison, disease, and bleed effects; +10% Armor; Lasts 8 seconds. 2 minute cooldown.
- Gun Specialization : increases chance to critically hit with Guns by 1%.
- Frost Resistance : Reduces the chance you will be hit by Frost spells by 2%.
- Find Treasure : Activate to see treasure chests on mini map - lasts until canceled - no cooldown.
Thanks and take care out there.

Amongst other things, I have a level orc hunter, but almost all of my toons are Horde. Recently, I decided I wanted to see the Alliance content higher than level 20, so I rolled a dwarf hunter. (Of all my characters, I found my hunter both fun and relatively easy to level, so I figured it was the right class for me once again.) I went through a similar choice crisis, too, though, but chose to go with the dwarf instead of the night elf mostly for the gun specialization. Also, I like the starting area better. Sometimes I worry that I might have chosen poorly, as I think that NE hunters are simply more agressive-looking in PVP, but that would be the only reason I have any doubts.
I'm not sure that this is any help to you, but I'd love to hear if anyone else on the Alliance side has any thoughts on the issue. For me, I think that this one pretty much comes down to taste.

Racials are getting overhauled in Cataclysm, so don't beat yourself up about your choice of rolling a NE.
However, I like the NE racials personally. Shadowmeld is great for interrupting casts and also making your attacker drop you as a target in PVP. The 2% reduced chance to be hit is also nice. Most players won't stack 7% hit for PvP, so it ensures that you'll avoid at least a few attacks. The nature resist is also a nice little bonus, as is the faster corpse run. NEs also start with the highest base agility.
The main reason for rolling a Dwarf would be for the added 1% crit with guns. Problem is, that racial is moot if you acquire a nice bow or crossbow. Stoneform is a nice PvP ability, but so then again so is Shadowmeld. Find Treasure is pretty useless since Blizz decided to stop adding chests in TBC. The frost resist is on par with the NE nature resist. Mace Specialization is lost on Hunters.
If you want the absolute best Hunter race, then roll an Orc. Beyond that, just go with whichever race you prefer based on looks and lore.
And like I said, all of it's going to change next year anyway.
Thanks for that guys, the weekend i lvled the NE to lvl 29 and i must say that i am really happy with her .... I found that Shadowmeld is absolutely a must have as Garwulf said it works like a bomb. I have also joined a nice lvling guild and they are assisting me with the class mechanics.
Thanks again for your thoughts.

LOL, don't sweat it Burgh.
Dwarves are pretty hot too. I have a feeling that the treasure seeking racial (provided they keep it) is going to be pretty handy once they re-introduce chests in the new content.
The gun racial is nice when you have a gun and Stoneform is almost like having another trinket vs certain classes.
They all have their pros and cons. I have a lvl 56 Dwarf Hunter that I used to also play back in the day. Just before TBC, he was my favorite character.
