Hi Everyone,

First of all i want to thank you for such an excellent site, i have learned a lot already!  As the title suggests, i am having low DPS problems, here is a link to my armoury, i play survival spec…

http://eu.wowarmory.com/charac…..eous+Glory

I use the shot priority as mentioned in various posts and your PVE article and struggle to get 1600 DPS against single bosses, although against multiple mobs using volley i can reach 3600 DPS in heroics.  If anyone has any comments or suggestions, i would greatly appreciate it.  I am the highest level hunter in the Guild at the moment, so it would be nice if i could tthen pass my knowledge on to my teammates.

Thank you for your time

Kind Regards

George

Hey, wish I could help but I'm not quite to icon_eek myself yet.

Garwulf is on vacation for a week, so if you don't get a response soon, give it a couple days.

I'm no expert at the class, but I have been playing it since WoW was first released so I will give this a shot.

(1) Your gear is good, except for I would replace the Incisor Fragment with something else if your able. The attack power bonus is ok, but armor pentration isn't so great for SV Hunters. My suggestion would be Mirror of Truth              http://www.wowhead.com/item=40684

(2) Swap the Volley glyph for the Serpent Sting one. Every spec of Hunter should have the Serpent Sting glyph.

(3) You are missing several enchants or at least thats what the armory was showing me.

 Here's a link for enchants that you can get:    -enchants/” rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank”>http://www.warcrafthuntersunio…..-enchants/

From my experience these improvement should pick up your dps. I average around 7000 dps in raids. In heroics if I dont volly alot I around 3500 dps, if I volley its more around 4500 or so. I hope this helps.

estgeorge, I'd listen to what takaas has to say. I guess this means I'm stepping down from interim leadership while Gar is away.. damn.

and Takaas, your main isn't a hunter?

Hi Guys,

Thanks very much for the replies, I'll swap the glyph straight away and am farming emblems as we speak!  I hadn't noticed that trinket, much better!  Had my chest enchanted and am working on getting the mats for the others!

Thank you both for your time, it is much appreciated!

Cheers

Est for starters I'll go with your gear.

You need to replace that offhand since expertise does not help hunters. The rest of your gear seems pretty decent, better than mine in fact. Get your gear enchanted! I can't stress that enough. I noticed that most of it is not. Get the extra socket put into your belt.

Are you talking about DPS on heroic bosses, or 10 and 25 man raid bosses fully buffed?

In either case based on your gear you definitely should be doing more than 1600 DPS. My guess is it comes down to your management of cooldowns and your shot rotations. I'm not a survival expert though so I can't help with that much.

For talents, I would make one suggestion. Take two out of Master Tactician and put them in Hunting Party. With Black Arrow and Explosive Shot, I'm not sure if you want to spring for Aimed Shot.

Your pet talents could use a slight change. Pets rarely die if you keep half an eye on them, so I would suggest changing the two points in Natural Armor to Cobra Reflexes to squeeze out a little more DPS.

Take or leave any of that but hope some of it helps.

Good points Drack. SV Hunter rotation should look something like this…..

Killshot (when up)>Explosive Shot>Black Arrow>Aimed Shot>Serpent Sting>Steady Shot

All good responses in this thread.

Here are my 2 pennies…

  • You're not using your 2 Blacksmithing socket bonuses, including the Eternal Buckle as Drack mentioned. You're giving up 60 agility. *gasp*
  • As stated earlier, get everything enchanted.
  • I wouldn't necessarily ignore the socket bonuses for the yellow gems. I'd go with Deadly Ametrines (10agil/10crit) in the yellows.

Your spec looks great and your wolf's build looks fine as well. One very minor suggestion would be to go 1/3 Expose Weakness and 2/3 Hunting Party. With buffs, your crit rating is sufficient enough to go with 1/3 in EW. The added 1% agility from 2/3 Hunting Party will be slightly more beneficial.

Since you're still using 2/9 T9, I'd recommend bumping Serpent Sting up in your priority. I'd prioritize it over Aimed Shot.

There should be enough useful info in this thread to get you headed in the right direction. I also recommend going through this guide if you haven't already:

Hope this collective effort has been helpful. icon_biggrin

Hi Guys,

Thank you all for your suggestions and assistance.  I haven't had everything enchanted due to lack of gold, however, i am getting there slowly.  I have added sockets to both items and am saving for a second gem.

As soon as i can afford to, i'll resocket the yellows.  I shall also take another look at my talents and change the things you suggest.

Thank You all, the collective effort has been excellent and much appreciated.

Regards

George

You're welcome George.

On a side note… you can get the needed gems in no time just by doing a few BGs. The daily random and one other should be enough honor for one gem at least. If you get a WG victory, then there's another one right there.

I can usually earn enogh honor for 3-4 gems in one casual night of BG'ing. But then again, I guess this method only works if you really enjoy BGs.

Cheers.

So it would be better to hold of on some gems till you have some pvp gems?Is it due to the fact they have more agil and stam?Or looking or leaning towards ap or arp?

Raybeez,

I wasn't suggesting PvP gems… I was merely suggesting using PvP honor as a currency to obtain the raw gems needed. The OP had mentioned they were a little low on gold, so I advised them to look at doing some BGs to quickly earn the honor needed to get the gems.

Raw epic gems can be purchased at the officer's quarters in SW or Org for 10K honor apiece.

Sorry if my statement sounded confusing. Hope this clears it up. icon_wink
