Saw this thread on the WoW forums a while back, but I actually think it could go both ways. You put someone with a British accent in with a bunch of southerners, you're going to have problems with communications. I've never really had a problem with it, but I have asked a few to talk a little slower a few times.
My post in the thread: I'm from East Tennessee, I always describe mine as a southern accent, with a hillbilly twang, and I wear it like a badge. If someone doesn't like it, they just don't like it, its something I'll never even try to give up. Plus I tell people its true that folks from the mountains have one leg shorter than the other from walking around on all these slopes.

I tend to talk really fast so I have to focus while in vent to slow down. Which usually results in me not saying anything at all except to fess up to having really bad aim with a freezing trap and snagging one of the little spiders in a FL trash run instead of the big one. Wish I had my screen shot handy to post. Epic hunter fail.
