hi all, i am just getting serious with this game and trying to figure out so many things that at times my head hurts and i get very frustrated. i have been playing off and on for about a year but really never got into it as much as i am trying to now. i am lost with alot of the terminology used, all the abbreviations being used go right over my head. i have done some raids but i do get kicked quite often because i cant figure out things and no one seems to want to help me out. it would be nice if for one there was a forum topic for some of these issues. maybe if someone can do a list of the abbreveations used commonly and maybe some advice on boss fights? the gearing and gemming is pretty well described on this site. anyway i am very thankful for this site but still getting too frustrated in game.

thanks for the above links, the first was just what i needed. the second doesnt really help me or any other new hunters out much. what i was looking for is maybe some one that has been playing the game for a while that can start some threads with each boss fight in the many raids and explaining what the hunters role in the fight should be not the objective overall. i have searched the net and i have found a couple descriptions but nothing with just what the raid group expects from hunters. i have been lucky and found a couple fellow players that use skype and they have helped a great deal and deadly boss mods does some to help as well. anyway, here is hoping some one can give explanations for the bosses you encounter as a hunte and explain what you should be doing. thanks for a great site and all the help it has given me so far!

There are plenty of good boss fight videos on YouTube. Just run a search that includes the boss name + hunter, and I'm sure you'll find that which you seek.
Here's a good starting place: http://www.youtube.com/user/Kripparrian

Well I think you might have better luck asking for specific fights, I don't mind throwing my knowledge out there to someone at all. But the 12 bosses in ICC, 5 in TOC, Ony, RS, OS, Maly... ect. That's alot of content to put out there. =D
Really most of the time watching a video will really give you what you need. In ICC the only 'hunter' specific duties depends on the raid.
Marrowgaurd- large hit box you should be the only one out that far
Lady D- Distracting shot the large ugly guys (disformed) *some people dont do this, and they let the tank kite* We put it on our hunters.
Saurfang- Trap-disengage- concussive- laugh at clothes who get one shot... er I mean distracting shot off of clothies... hehe
That the jift of the first four.

Morow, I *love* Tankspot. They include videos, explanation of boss fights, description of class rolls, and generally discussions on how to improve on specific fights. It's wonderfully useful, and in my raids for my guildies, required reading for class. 😉
I also heavily use the wowwiki link that Tak gave above.
My bf gave me the best advice that seems to always work for me as a hunter. Just keep out of shit and kill the adds, slowing them down first. Toss aggro on the tank. Rinse and repeat.
Cel, LOL at your Saurfang comment. Too funny. I don't think i've ever seen a clothie get killed in our saurfang runs, but that would just crack me up, I think.
OH ! OH! I do have a funny! We have a mage who is SO HAPPY to have gotten his end game boots (the ones ALL clothies want...) that he's been showing off like mad. I normally don't mind since our main tank is wonderful, but we had a TON of role changes last night in a continuation run and so many newbies on the team it wasn't funny. So, we get to blood prince, and I see him grabbing aggro. Warned him in vent to cut it out, that he was going to die before I could get my MD off cooldown. "I know what I'm doing..."
He was subsequently taken from 95% health to boot scrapings in two steps. We were all laughing. It was damn funny to watch.
We have a mage like that, he is known as our "MageTank". Guild officer and co/raid leader so we just let him be and ROFL everytime he bites it (which is almot every fight!). Gotta love em =)
And def tankspot! It is my number one source for raid info and vids, also a prerequisit for our guild to be able to raid. And the forums there are very helpful as well, the folks there helped me tremendously with my DK tank!
