Here is some info I have to share, its nothing set in stone mind you, but is worth mentioning:

(1) After getting hit capped, Agility is the primary focus for all specs. At this time it is unclear where Crit, Haste and Mastery fit in on the priority list.

(2) Out with http://www.wowhead.com/item=49110 . The stats bonus from this are not optimal for us anymore.

(3) http://www.wowhead.com/item=41398 is recommended for filling meta slot.

(4) Gear bonuses: 4PC T9, is good for BM, but not so great for MM and SV.

2PC T10, Good for all specs.

4PC T10, Also good for all specs.

(5) Info I have read says that all three specs are running pretty close in dps. My experience so far though is that BM is strongest, followed by MM and SV bring up the lower dps. Although to note, Hunter dps is still strong, although lower then it was before the patch. I'm seeing BM Hunters pulling 8k in ICC10. I will probably be hitting ICC10 tonight and will hopefully get a good look at what my dps is as MM. In heroics I've been hitting between 3.5 and 4k dps. So I'm thinking I should be able to put out some decent numbers in a raid.

Last nights ICC10 raid, I did 6k dps as MM. I'm happy with it considering I'm still tweaking gear and rotation.

I haven't run ICC since the patch. . . in fact I've pretty much been exclusively hunting rare pets for my bm spec lol. . . but I did take some time to run chain heroics (as bm spec) with a group of friends last night.  dps on trash was around 3.5-4k but boss fights would see me at around 6k – best was 7.2 on last boss in HoS.

The dps dropped a bit when I switched over to my survival spec however.  Was lucky to hit 5.5k on a boss fight  icon_sad

And a quick question – though I may have just overlooked the info what with everything else to research – what is replacing the nightmare tear as a blue gem when looking to meet meta prereq's?

They are saying to use the Agi/stam  or agi/hit  for blues

Then there are a few orange ones  Agi/haste I believe.

We didn't have a single survi hunter in raid,  we have 1 BM that is right in tow with the MM  guys we have.  All of us with 264 gear are pretty much toe to toe,  so I would agree that most of them are fairly even across the board.

I changed all my haste I could to Mastery,  without raid buffs I'm sitting at 14.52% haste.   During raid (25 man)  while maintaining the ISS proc I was sitting at 1.3 Sec cast.  Which is fairly good imo anyways,  since we are now down to a 1 sec GCD.

Thanks for the info Takaas…  as always it's very helpful.

Horns and Hooves = +15  DPS

Hey guys.

Was just reading this thread, and just like Wamphyri, my dps in heroics is around 3,5k – 4k as a BM was just wondering if this is very common for ohter BM's after the patch?? coz i will admit i am haveing a very hard time adjusting to this new focus thing. I just seem to burn it way faster than it is regenerateing

It seems common for any of the specs to be doing around 4k dps in heroics. As for the running out of focus thing, BM have THE best focus regen of any of the specs. You just need to find the right rotation. Remember that Steady Shot gives focus, rather then takes it.

Heya

Thanks for the answer, i am useing the steady shot when i get down to around 30 focus, but guess i just have to find the right rotation.

Do any of you have any advice regarding the rotation?

Cel and Tak,  Thank you both for your raiding insight.  i've yet to set foot into Ice Cream Citadel and it will probably be another week, and it's making me nutty.  Let us know if you have any more runs and how your specs are tweaking out?

BM is just something I'm playing around with, so I haven't done much playing around with the spec, but here is what I do so far. This may not be the optimal rotation, but I don't run out of focus using it. Hopefully this will help till someone finds something better.

(1) Serpent Sting

(2) Kill Command

(3) Arcane Shot

(4) Steady Shot x 3

I reapply Serpent every other rotation. Also make sure to use Focus Fire when your pet gets full Frenzy. You will know this because your Focus Fire will light up.

Thx a lot Takaas.

I will try this out, tho i have macroed focus fire to my arcane shot, seems to be working ok, tho granted it would be more optimal to do it manually but wanna keep it simple for now icon_smile

But i will try running wiht that rotation, thx a bunch. and see how it works out.

The MM rotation I am useing (if anyone was wondering since Takaas has the BM down pat!)

It's more of a priority list depending on the situation.

1- Serpent sting to start

2- Chimera Shot- only when SrS Needs refreshed and not when CS is off

3- Arcane shot as your focus dump-  (for me this has been coming in pairs to) of CD

4- Steady Shot- ALWAYS in pairs-  This keep Improved Steady shot up,  which is a really nice haste buff.

5- Aimed shot- ONLY when Master Marksmen makes this a instant free casting shot =D

ICC last night I was making upwards of 10K (this is down a little from pre-patch but it's better then last Wednesday nights raid)

Horns and Hooves = +15  DPS

MM is still my primary spec. Its also what I pvp in. Here is the rotation I've been working with thus far:

(1) Serpent Sting

(2) Chimera Shot

(3) Arcane Shot

(4) Steady Shot x3 *this is what it usually takes for me till Chimera comes off coold down*

(5) Repeat from Chimera Shot.

NOTE: I hit Improved Aimed Shot when it procs. Same for Kill Shot. When in instances/raids when fighting mobs I've been using trap launcher to throw an explosive trap and snake trap into the center of the mobs. Then I do multi-shot followed by a Steady Shot, repeat.

Pets I currently use. Raid bosses I bring out my hyena http://cata.wowhead.com/spell=50271 . For trash I use my raptor http://cata.wowhead.com/spell=50498 . Since trash dies rather quickly, I don't often proc http://cata.wowhead.com/spell=53238 , which is a bleed effect and ties in well with my hyena.

I have noticed my BM dps has been about 3.5 to 4  and in ICC about 5 to 6  I was able to hit 9k last night tho. I was waaay surprised. What I ended up doing was launching explosive trap to the mob, and lo and behold I was getting mad dps.  I love the new launch features, and since the pets seem waay slow now, no dash, Ive been compensating by using the “pet move to”  to have my pet as close as possible to where the tanks is going to pull to.

Oh by the way I forgot to mention, I've been out dps'ing MM hunters consistently, which would never happen ever for me.

Except they seem better dps, on quick trash, and quick mobs, but not on boss fights, or extended mob, or trash fights.  Hopefully this stays this waaay, it is sooo about time, lol

Is this recommended? I'm sitting at 15.61% haste now. So far all of my reforging has been to change hit to Mastery as I'm currently at 10.57% hit chance. Should I also be reforging my gear that has haste into Mastery?

Slug,

Yeah, I suggest you reforge your haste into Mastery. Mastery is currently the best stat for us after agility. This is especially true of Beast Masters, since we're already pretty well hasted through talents (Focus Fire).

Any Survival Spec's left?    If so I would be curious to your rotation.

As a side thought, I struggle with keeping myself on whatever the tank is fighting.   Half the time I can't see it and even with tab targeting I don't know if I am on the right monster or not.    Does this macro still work?   I thought I read that people were still having macro issues since patch.  I thought if I assigned that to a keybind it might make my life a little easier rather than trying to click the portrait (why did Blizzard make every buff on the target come over with the picture….?) and then click misdirect over and over.

/cast [@focus] Misdirection

Another side thought, even though this isn't the macro thread string, I found this macro on this site but I thought kill command could only be kicked off when the target was at less than 10% health.   I've never used kill command so I'm not sure if I need to put this in or not.  Macros are new to me.

/cast [@focus] Misdirection
/cast Kill Command

Sadly, SV is suffering the most from the change to focus. They can become focu starved rather quickly. It has been said that this will be solved when Cobra Shot becomes available at level 85 in Cataclysm. Its to bad, from what I'm seeing all three specs are finally running close to the same dps when you figure things out. I'm afraid I don't have much more information on SV at the moment. Most of the Hunters in my guild have gone BM. (I'm a die hard and will be sticking with MM. Tongue out ))

Maybe I will give MM a try then.   It will take me six months to get to 85 when Cata hits so I might as well start learning a different spec now in case the low DPS for SV continues.
