This is an excerpt from an e-mail I’d received from one of my site visitors, and probable future contributors, regarding the Deathbringer Saurfang encounter.
…I got invited to a pug that a guildie was in on. Unfortunately, I was only invited on the last boss, but regardless we put him down with a very unique strat. Hopefully it was allowed.
We tanked Saurfang on the edge where the portal is. We had myself and another hunter MD at the start of the fight to tanks who were in position. He goes right to them without any issue.
Then when the adds popped, we Boomkin bounced them off the ledge. It worked flawless each time. All the adds fall to their death and we deal some crazy DPS because no one needed to switch. If everyone spreads out, marks are not an issue.
We popped hero at 30% and the rest was history. I was pretty surprised this actually worked, I just hope we donβt get in trouble or something for it.
We also got the achievement, which I am pretty stoked to have. I feel like it is going to be a hard one to get.
By now, I’m guessing that this strat is probably popping up on forums everywhere. I just can’t believe we didn’t think to try this. π
Our strategy in 10 man basically involved myself and another Hunter Distracting Shot pullling each add through a Frost Trap, then as they’d start to get close, our Boomkins would blow them back and we’d burn them down. It never occurred to us to position Saurfang near the ledge and use Typhoon to send the adds to their death.
By the way, I believe this to be a “creative use of game mechanics”, and not so much an exploit. At least that’s what I think. π I’m sure Blizz never intended for the encounter to be this easy, so I’m sure they’ll throw something in there to fix this little workaround.
I just noticed the new patch today, it may have been fixed…
For the hell of it, we just tried that – no candy π
hmmm… maybe it’s been hotfixed?
Seems likely – there’s an invisible wall there now so they bounce back onto the melee…
