Anyone excited about Diablo 3?

Ancient AvengerAny of you in the beta..?

I can’t tell you how eager I am to re-enter Sanctuary and start massacring legions of bad guys. No beta key for me though… just yet, that is. At any rate… I’m still keeping my fingers crossed. 🙂

I mention this not only due to the huge buzz surrounding Diablo 3 right now, but also because I’ve been hard at work on another project — AncientAvenger.com.

The site is a few years old, but more or less has been a very ‘casual project’ of mine. Well, now that D3 fever has struck me, I’m spending a little more time over there. As of right now, the site is primarily a general interest site for Diablo, but once they let me into Tristram, I’m probably going to steer it towards Barbarian class discussion.

So, if you’re a fan of the Diablo universe, then be sure to pop on over. 🙂 Also, I’d really love it if you added me on facebook and twitter. I’m just now emerging from the shadows, so I don’t have a lot of visitors at the moment, which means any comments will be much appreciated as well.

Now back to the World of Warcraft, hunters and most specifically… HuntsmansLodge.com.

Apart from my flurry of rare pet taming that went on a few weeks ago, I haven’t had a lot to say, and for that I apologize. However, I do have a ton of stuff that I want to get to… problem is, most of these things are massive undertakings which will require a large chunk of my time. I have a slew of guides that need updating, along with a bunch of refinements I plan to make to the site. As soon as I start thinking about starting any of these projects, I either end up getting pulled away to another task (usually for a client), or I quickly become overwhelmed with all that needs to be done.

Also, focus has been a bit of a problem for me lately, but I’m getting better about writing things down on my dry-erase board. 😉

As soon as my busy schedule starts to let up, I will be getting my hands dirty over here. In the meantime, perhaps you could let me know what areas you’d like me to focus on. My play time has dwindled quite a bit over the past several months due to the squeeze the RL has put on it, resulting in a lot less topic for discussion. Not saying that’s a bad thing though… being busy is good. I make more money that way, plus less time at the computer always makes the wife a bit happier. 😉 Also, given that my raid participation is zero these days, that also limits my subject matter. Of course, there’s always PvP discussion, which is probably more or less where I’ll continue to head with this site.

Oh… and pets…

…and user interface customization.

Anyway… things at or near the top of my to-do list are:

  • Upload an updated version of my UI (yes, I’m still tinkering…).
  • Discuss the why and how of the addons in my UI.
  • Update a few stale guides – starting with Power Auras.
  • Talk about PvP.
  • Whatever else strikes my fancy…

Suggestions? Comments?

Oh… almost forgot to mention…

More contests! You guys up for some of those? It’s been awhile since I’ve put on a contest and I really have been meaning to feature more fun stuff like that.

I have a stack of loot cards on my desk that need to be redeemed, but I don’t plan on using them.

If you guys have any cool contest ideas, please leave them in the comments below.

  1. The things at the top of your list look spot on 🙂

Really interested to read the BM PVP interview(s), and any updates you make to general PVP strats. And the genius UI of course!

  2. I’m more interested in Torchlight 2, to be honest, but even then I’m having difficulty with maintaining interest in the genre. It feels a lot like WoW, except your gear is replaced at Ludicrous Speed.

    I’m content with Hyper Jets.

    • I downloaded Torchlight when Steam had it for ten bucks. It’s definitely a fun game, but I’ve yet to finish it. My 4 year old son absolutely loves it, so he pretty much started taking over whenever I attempted to play. I eventually just let him do his thing, but I would like to play through it at least once and be able to properly gear my character, digest all the lore, etc…

My main problem with Torchlight though… the non-stop inventory management hassle. I suppose this would be less of a problem were I actually playing, but since my son’s on it mainly, he’s having to constantly ask for our help when having to sort out his pack, or consult with us about which items are upgrades, etc…

We’ll be reading or watching TV, then every 3-5 minutes… Pack is Full! Then we look at each other and one of us says, “I helped him last time — it’s your turn.”

Hopefully Torchlight 2 will have a Cauldron like D3. The pet vendor idea in Torchlight is great, but it’s still not as convenient as having a smelter in your inventory. 😉
