Heya folks, so.. I notice that the chimera and Worm AOEs are getting a nice buff and I am really excited for this situational option to assist my pitiful recent AOE dps as a BM hunter.

So  - forgive the newbish-ness here – But it appears that the Worm and Chimera Aoes are NOT autocast – meaning I need to click them otherwise they will not cast ?!?

"Yes please vicious Purple People eater,  do kill as much as possible – don't be shy."

So perhaps I can macro this into my arcane shot?

any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I actually macro Froststorm Breath into my Concussive Shot macro. Both "shots" are trying to achieve the same thing, and sometimes they will both happen at the same time, but I've found that a LOT of the time one or the other is on cooldown, and the other one works, end result is a slowed target. Certainly Froststorm Breath also does damage and is preferred to CS most of the time. I see CS as a consolaion prize for when FB is on CD.

Cheers,

D

I wouldn't macro either ability to a shot unless you use a modifier with it. Reason being, there will be times when you won't want an AoE spell going off, so you'll either end up blowing it or having to refrain from using the shot…unless you use a modifier.

Personally, I think that Multi-Shot would be better suited for either spell, as far as a shot macro goes. If you're casting Multi then that means you're not worried about breaking CC -and- you're doing damage to multiple targets.

Another thing worth noting is that when a Chimaera casts Froststorm Breath it channels the spell, meaning it cannot use any other attacks during – including Kill Command. Depending upon how the numbers shake out, it may not be advisable to put FB into the 'rotation' so to speak, because that will mean fewer Kill Commands, Wolverine Bites, basic attacks, Frenzy procs, etc…

Darwin, Frost Breath is an autocast, so you don't need to macro it with anything – especially a shot that essentially does the same thing. You're negating your Conc Shot if you're casting them simultaneously. When FB is on your target, use those cooldowns for DPS shots – when it wears off, then hit 'em with Conc Shot.

Also worth noting… Frost Breath does not do damage. It used to, but in Cata the spell got split in two. Frost Breath is the slowing cast, with the longer range — Froststorm Breath is the channeled damage spell, with the short range and frontal AoE.

Thanks for the update Gar, and yes now you mention it, FSB and Multi-Shot together would be a grand display.

I've been thinking about bringing the Chimaera out a bit and experimenting with the new and improved Froststorm Breath. based on what I saw some weeks ago, FSB was hitting pretty hard while in BW, but that was before the buff. I'm going to try macro'ing it with BW and see how it does in BGs vs plate.

Also, I'm going to take my own advice and macro it with Multi-Shot too. icon_smile

So I am getting some very nice AOE DPS spikes with Nuramoc! And this is the first time I have actually been swapping out pets for a reason (other than just for fun) in heroics.

A welcomed and noticable upgrade to AOE dps.
