Hi g4gav,

I'm pretty sure I can help you out here. There's lots to go over, so I'll get right to the point. This is all constructive criticism and I mean no offense, just that in the essence of time, I'll be blunt.

Your SV build needs a lot of work and your MM build is just bad. In fact, you're using a glyph in your MM spec for a shot you dont even have (Explosive), plus you're wasting 3 points in Focused Aim when you're already way over hit cap.

First, Let's get your talents sorted out.

Change your SV build to this, including glyphs: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent…..edAhsd:NAf

Change your MM build to this, including glyphs: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent…..AZx00b:Afi

Now, your gear…

You're 42 hit rating over the cap, yet you have +30 hit added via gem sockets. Those are a pure waste of stats.

The bulk of your gems should be red agility gems (Delicate Cardinal Ruby), with maybe some Deadly Ametrines in yellow slots (if the socket bonus is good, ie: +6 agility), and a Nightmare's Tear to fulfill your blue slot requirement for your meta gem. Also, don't bother gemming for armor penetration right now. You don't have enough of it to make gemming for it an advantage. Stick agility gems in there instead.

Shot priorities

Survival

  • Kill Shot
  • Explosive Shot
  • Black Arrow
  • Serpent Sting
  • Aimed Shot
  • Steady Shot

Marksmanship

  • Kill Shot
  • Serpent Sting
  • Chimera Shot
  • Aimed Shot
  • Steady Shot

* Chimera Shot refreshes Serpent Sting, so you only have to cast it again if you want to refresh it during a trinket proc for more damage on your Chimera.

** macro Silencing Shot in with Chimera, Aimed and Steady, so that it fires every time it's off cooldown. See on this page: http://huntsmanslodge.com/macros

Fire those shots in order as their cooldowns are available.

Read my post on Explosive Shot: http://huntsmanslodge.com/5663…..e-shot.htm

and my basic Guide on MM raiding: http://huntsmanslodge.com/the-…..rksmanship

Hope this info helps. :)

I think im in the same boat as the OP… I have pretty good gear but it seems my dps is lacking! I cant for the life of me get this macro thing down…Right now I'm specd for MM and I pull on average 2k-2800 dps I think I should be a bit higher than this! I have recently been told to forget about crit and focus strictly on ArP

any help is apreciated

my Hunter is Kinrad Garoana server

I had a look at your armory. The first problem I came across is one that I see all too often. You're way over the hit cap.

263 (8% increased chance to hit) hit rating is all that's needed to be hit capped. If the Draenei racial buff is in your group, then you only need about 230.

You're sitting at 401 hit, which means you have 138 stat points wasted on hit rating, that could be better used gaining you more crit, armor pen or haste.

To make matters worse, you have a wasted talent point spent in Focused Aim, which is adding yet another 1% chance to hit.

I suggest pulling the point from FA and putting it into either Efficiency or IHM. I also recommend you run both H FoS and R ToC for either Needle Encrusted Scorpion or Banner of Victory. Either one of those will provide a noticeable DPS upgrade for you right now.

You're gemming for armor pen when you should be gemming for agility. There's not point in gemming for armor penetration at your present gear level, and without a necessary trinket. I suggest losing all of your armor pen gems and replacing them with 20 agility.

Another recommendation is to replace your purple agil/stam gems with 20 agil as well. A Nightmare's Tear (+10 to all stats) is all that is needed for your meta requirement.

Now, onto your meta… the only proper choice is a Relentless Earthsiege Diamond. You have a tanking meta in your helm. Fix that one ASAP.

You may want to wait for a 2H upgrade before you do it, but I'd recommend massacre over all other enchants for a 2H. 26 agil is fine for dual weilding, but not a 2H.

Without getting too critical, I feel that's enough advice to get you heading down the path to hunter DPS enlightenment.

As always, this is meant to be constructive criticism. I'm not bashing in any way, just being candid.

I hope this info helps. Update me later on if you find that it's helped you.

Best,

Gar

Heya Wildamae,

I went through your Armory and the biggest problem you have right now is that your over the hitcap by 107 points, 263 is the hard cap for hit and anything above that provides zero benefit, and because of that you can regem your gear to optimize it better.  I am guessing you raid/do heroics as SV (if that is in error please let me know) and to put it blunty your SV build needs a lot of help.

First off ze SV build…

This, or some minor variation of it, is what you want to use.  Included in that link is the Major Glyphs necessary to optimize the build to it's full potential.  Minor Glyphs are pretty much whatever else you want to use, as they provide either a) No benefit to DPS or b) Provide very little benefit.  Just for giggles, and because I suffer from a touch of OCD, I fill those slots up as well with the minors you have already so wee!

Now ze gems…

As SV you want to stack Agility as much as much as you can and where you can.  The gem you want to use is the +20 Agi Delicate Cardinal Ruby.  I never worry about getting the socket bonus on gear unless it is an exceptional one for example +6 Agi, even then I have to really talk to myself into it as putting a +20 Agi gem in there will eek out a tad more dps for me.  Also, I never gem for Crit as Agi gives you ranged AP as well as Crit as a hunter anyway.  Don't get the split gems either (the one's that provide +to one stat and then + to another) you're better off putting a +20 Agi in there anyway, and all you need to meet your Meta Gem Requirement is one Nightmare's Tear (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49110).  Your Meta-Gem is perfect and doesn't need to be changed.

Onwards to gear!

For some that shiny new ilevel 264 cloak is a must have, being it's BiS – or close to BiS – it's hard to argue that.   That said I am of three minds about it.  One part of me says, there's a serious lack of capes out there for hunter's so go ahead and pick it up if you have the Emblems.  Another part of me says, well I can get a drop from an instance or a raid.  Then another part of me says hey can I pick this one up cheaper.  Either of those two back pieces is better than you what you have currently, it's up you of course but since you will probably never replace the ilevel 264 one I'd try to get that one.  With that being said, and since you are overcapped on hit, I'd take a look at the T10 gear, either the shoulders or the helm since neither one of those have hit rating on them and they are great upgrades.  Yeah they cost a ton of Emblems of Frost unfortunately :( but the 2 set T 10 bonus is just well … awesomesauce :) .  And combining it with the 2 set T9 bonus is even more … wait for it … awesomesauce :D .  You need to replace one of your rings too, the Horseman one, I'd replace it with with the one you get with Valor Emblems (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40717).  Yeah it's technically a sidegrade for you, but since you're overcapped on hit and the Valor ring doesn't have hit every little bit helps.  Your trinkets, you need to lose the Sphere of Red Dragons Blood, the +55 hit is wasted, either the Needle Encrusted Scorpion from Heroic 5 man Forge of Souls or the Banner of Victory from Regular ToC 5 would be better and provide more of a boost to your dps.  There is some gear you want to keep an eye out for in the ICC 5 Mans Heroic (or even regular), especially weapons, as I just noticed your melee weapon has a whopping +76 Hit on it O_O.  Basically be on the look out for any weapon that has +Agi and Stam, but doesn't have Hit or Expertise and you're golden.  Remember the magic number for hit is 263, once you get there try to stay as close as possible to it without going over it to a massive extent.  It goes without saying of course that you don't want to fall under the hit cap either (well I think I just said it … so go team!)

Ze Enchants…

With the exception of weapons, bracers, chest, legs, head, and gloves, enchant for Agility where such an enchant is available for that particular piece of gear.  For the weapons, bracers, and gloves AP enchants are perfectly acceptable.  For chest pieces +10 to all Stats is the way to go.  Enchant for the head, Arcanum of Torment from Knights of the Ebon Blade (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50367) is it.  Leg enchat is well … the one you have currently so again … wee!

Ze Shot Priority…

Kill Shot (When available)

Explosive Shot

Black Arrow

Serpent Sting

Aimed Shot

Steady Shot

Rinse and Repeat.

Since you have the T9 Bonus Serpent Sting is higher up the shot priority list, if you didn't have the bonus then Serpent Sting would be fired off after Aimed Shot.

Notice I didn't say "Shot Rotation", that term is a tad bit dated.  The above list is the priority you want your to shots to go off in.  By that I mean before Kill Shot is available Explosive Shot is the shot you want to fire when it is off CD.  Don't delay it for anything as it delaying it will result in a dps loss for you, the hunter.

The other thing you have to watch for as a SV hunter is Lock and Load procs, in the interests of time, and the fact this post is too long already :D , I'll just link to this post of mine where I talk about Lock and Load with Anj (http://huntsmanslodge.com/foru…..stions#385).

Sorry if this post of mine is a bit dense, I'm long winded and tend to ramble :) .  Also my apologizes if this is information you already know, I am again long winded and tend to ramble :) .
