Hey folks, I just had to share with ya'll i am closing in on the SB9 club with recent tames of Magria and Ankha. Banthalos definitely seems the trickiest with all the traffic at Malorne and theres almost always someone sitting in the tree when I check in.

Its nice to have a place to share the geeked-out satisfaction of getting close to all nine. icon_wink

Cheers,

Tenth Elune

Grats Tenth, and good luck with Ban'thalos..!

Also know that geekiness will always be welcome – if not held in the highest praise – here at The Lodge.

Grats tenth, and good luck on Banth!! Perching on the tree was the hardest part of the tame for me..but I'm an orc and we aren't necessarily built for balancing gracefully on treetops icon_smile

Grats tenth-I tamed Banth off the statue given I lacked the motivation due to my overall ineptitude to spend hours trying to park in that fn tree. So the statue is doable. Having not tried the vaunted tree I'd imagine the statue is a tad touchier for the fall killing you so max out the buffs if you give that a shot.

Geekiness? Dude/Dudette Spirit Beasts are the coolest . Now if you had said you'd tamed em wearing lil spock ears, day glo undies and nothing else, that'd be geeky. Good luck with Banth.

BACK to the subject at hand, I tried the statue and couldn't handle that, I'm impressed that you did it. Grats Agio, methinks you are far more clever than you let on.

1st off let's not get hasty, I'm terribly stupid and a crappy hunter. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Now continuing to hijack this thread, back to Banth and the statue. The 1st thing to do is a couple of test drops to get your max fall without dying range. This is based on 126hp for me. Park on the statue, then fly up n dismount.

Now I dunno how the pros would be able to judge that but me, I took a black felt pen though any color will do, and marked my monitor with the heights I dropped from. Did that twice. On my successful tame fall I took 113k damage. It probably would've been less had I the skills to know my exact ranged distance.

Banth flys almost directly over the Statue in his route. Have to wait til he's quite close before you drop the Freezing trap else it'll go bye bye on you. Then fly up to your 'I don't die from the fall height'  you've marked on your monitor with the felt pen. You may have to rotate slightly and look upwards once you have Banth locked. Then dismount and pop off two quick shots so you make sure to pull him-he freezes real fast n purty. I tried one and he didnt come with me so I had to FD before he whacked me. n' that as they say is that.

Now again, keep in mind this is coming from an under-achieving player who lacks the initiative or desire to spend 2 hours trying to land on top of a fn tree.

If you fall for the 'mark your monitor' part of this, please send me some pics Laughing

You have no idea how badly I didn't want to write that last line in the hopes some 'pro' would flame me. God I'm gettin so soft.

*roaring*

Watches from the distance as a blood elf leans forward, squinting slightly as he hits the 'dismount' button, his finger on the monitor, watching as his character falls to the digital granite below.  He grins with a slight 'aha, I live' and reaches for the sharpie on the desk next to him.  He flips the cap off, turning to the screen to mark it, then looks at it quizzically, his smile turning to a frown.  "…and lost it."

With a heavy sigh, he places the marker down, then mounts to fly up again, once more…

Thanks to Bizono <La fin du Monde>  the pally who helped me. He took the hits and lured Banth to my ice trap and it was easy peasy.

Welcome to the SB9 Club, my friend!  You will find the acoutraments lush and the company of the highest caliber.

Kudos to the pally for properly filling his role as a support class to your hunter in helping with the tame.  Wink

I have always felt a tremendous sense of satisfaction whenever I have tamed the last SB I needed to round out my collection.  These little buggers this expansion seemed particularly elusive.  Maybe that's because they were all spawning within 10 feet of each other and every BM hunter on the friggin server seemed camped out at all hours to get 'em.  At least that's how it felt for me.  Either, way…congratulations Tenth!

Congrats Tenth.

I'm not into collecting the SBs myself, though I have 3 in my stable. Three's enough for me, since I don't use them anyway, as MM.

Gratz again,

D

OK, so i have to admit i cheated with Ban'thalos. After having him tamed out from underneath me 4 times!!!! yes, you read it right, 4 TIMES!!!!! i started to get kinda earked! Well i saw him finaly one day on my hunter and my wife was on her mage…………(you see where i am going with this) she flew up hit it then popped slow fall and just as she hit the top of the ring he flies around he killed her but i was able to trap him and tame him…….YAY!!!!!! Now i have all but Arcturis (my bane when it comes to pets) I can never get him to spawn for me……….maybe someday!

Wanted to share my latest pets collection/tame.

Yesterday evening at 10:45 PM, I was flying around in Twilight, and suddenly Karoma showed up on my npcscanner – easy tame  though, but nice looking pet.

This morning I logged in at 5:30 AM, was sitting up in the tree, waiting for Ban'Thalos – and again my npcscanner went off – nice idd – died a few times, because I used a DOT shot, and Ice Trap broke fast after Banta was trapped, and killed me – did eventually tame him though – woohoopp icon_wink

Had my mage in Vash'Ir looking for Ghostcrawler since yesterday, and this morning 5 min after the Banta tame, npcscanner went off again, quickly got my hunter down to Vash'Ir, and got the tame done.

I now have 8 of the spirit beasts – only missing Ankha icon_biggrin

Hi all fellow hunters.

Got Sambas tuesday evening, at about 8:05 PM – easy tame, but hard to find.

Been flying around the spawn spots for the last few days, every time a had a free minute.

Just logged in tuesday evening, and flying to the spawn spot, furthest to the south west, and npcscanner went off – SAMBAS !!!.

Love this lion and the moves when fighting alongside me.

Grats on Sambas, he was one of the hardest to find pets I've ever nabbed. He was just never around when I did my daily fly-through of the Highlands. Felt good to get him icon_smile
