I am also keen to try out the crossover pet specs. Imagine tanking with a spider! All those spindly legs generating enough threat to keep anything off us, and the ability to throw a web at runners!

Oh the things my tank wasp could do!

Oh how devastating could I be with tank Owl?

Imagine the sh*t I could fling with a tank monkey...

The images are boundless...

Excited!

+1 to lawman30's comment about Arcturis. That bear has solo tanked more enough elites for me, I'm actually proud of him (sniff).

I share the same concern about taking away the pet buffs. I actually hope they make them stick, but that they do something about some pet abilities that just don't fit (e.g. bleed damage increasing debuff on a Rhino--despite BM hunters not having any sort of bleed damage ability).

Also, I hope they buff Spirit Mend to make it properly scale with level, not just attack power. While the heal is awesome at levels 74- (enough to top you off), you quickly find out it becomes less and less useful the higher you climb. I just hope they don't make it overpowered or the ability may suffer the same 'gearshifting' as Warriors often experience.

Talking about the hunter now, I'm curious as to what they will do with the ability to tame exotic pets. Since we now gain our tree-specific talents automatically now and only have to worry about the specialization talents, does this mean we'll pick it up at a certain level instead of at the start?

I can't wait until the PTR launches for this baby. XD

I didn't hear/read anything about them doing away with the pet buffs and, quite frankly, I can't imagine they would. The buffs and the trees seem totally unrelated to me. I am, however, on board with you. I don't know that I'd trade one for the other.

Let's just hope they stick to making our pets 'more awesome'.

My concern with this lies in the way they decide to ultimately handle the buffs currently unique to the different pet families. One of my favorite things about raiding as a Hunter (aside from the obvious "LEET DPS" of course) is the utility I bring with my pet buffs/debuffs.

We're missing a certain class? No worries, I'll bring the other pet.

Hopefully they don't blow that all away- I do like the idea of being able to tank with a cat or dps with a scorpid. etc.

I was TOTALLY pumped to hear they will finally be allowing us to spec pets from any family in whatever tree we choose. FINALLY I will be able to take Arcturis with me as an extreme solo tank pet. FINALLY I'll be able to take tank pets (like Terrorpene) into dungeons without losing dps by speccing them for dps.

Oh happy, happy huntery days are ahead, my friends!
