I'm just curious as to if a spirit beast is really worth the time and effort to hunt down and tame. Is it just for bragging rights or are they really that useful? Let me know your opinions on this icon_smile

well i dont know how many research you did yourself but about being usefull i think its the right thing to say no, it has been proven by alot of people and by alot of dpstest that as a bm, a devilsaur is the best choice for doing ultimate dps.

but why a spirit beast you ask? well when i was lvling my first char which was a hunter, i watched alot of blogs and vids of peeps one of them was tribunalxhunter also a good hunter he had loque since where i saw him i wanted a own spirit beast, you can see it like a cind of privilege or something like you got your own privet jet while other suckers need to fly with public planes its something which will gain y ou respect through other hunters something which makes you look cooler and absolutely something that was definetly worht al those times of waiting crying and hunting it down. (ps go for loque others suck xD icon_razz _)

ii hope this helped ps know that this all is my opinion none of this is a fact and point it to me if im wrong

thats pretty much what i figured that having a spirit beast was more of a status symbol lol. i really want loque' for nothing mor than the fact that she looks awesome lol its hard for me to seperate myself from lifelong companion that i tamed at lvl 20 which is a ghost cat named DethBringer he's always with me unless im in a tough spot that needs some extra muscle then ill bring out my bear lol and sometimes ill use my wolf but i love my cats lol

Spirit beasts dont add the hghest DPS because they dont have to  – they are the Gods of Pets and have no need to be concerned with petty things such as damage output. They exude "WOW" in some cases it is literally dripping from their mouths.

I like my spirit beasts just fine, even if it is just a show off pet. =)

When Arcturis was first whispered about in Grizzly hills my husband, whos hunter was 74 at the time (mine was still in the 60's), said I HAVE to have one! He spent days and days camping that damn spot, and when he was at work he had WoW up on my PC in the living room with an addon that would scream holy hell at me if he spawned! Spent weeks like that, and guess what, he NEVER got it! someone else who always get the drop on him because he spawned so early in the morning on our server. He was pissssed, and eventually gave up.

So I get my hunter to 74 some time later. I'm running around NR doing random quests when it dawns on me I am 74! So I hop the FP over to the lodge just for the hell of it, hop on my mount, go around the corner and there he was… just sitting pretty, waiting for me!

My husband never fully forgave me for that, and I ended up never using the damn thing. He is pretty to look at for sure, and bragging rights are nice… but even when just hunting he is about uselss! I still use my flaming wolf cuz he is awesome sauce!

Well, I'm all out for vanity when it comes to my pets, sure the damage is'nt as nifty as other pets and speccs.

I can't really say much about the time spent for looking after them, except for the bear which I assume I was lucky with since I "only" camped for 10 hours when some claim he's on a 20+ timer. But dang I get happy every time I look at my pets.

But damn the looks outweighs the damage for me, I'll stick to my Spirits Beasts since I'm guildless and have yet to done a raid on my new server ;]

Hehe…yes indeed. Spirit Beasts are like the classic car you keep in your garage and take out for a Sunday drive – and in this case…a drive around Dalaran. I have all of the SB's except for Skoll – and only because of a lack of stable slots. Loque took me over a month to tame and I love him – but it's like bringing an old tiger with no teeth to a fight icon_smile

Hope they correct this injustice with Cata – please please please icon_smile

Grrrrr pretty irritated, i finally came across loque in the NW corner of sholazr near the savage thicket and was in the process of taming her(more than halfway done) when a orc warrior came along and killed her with a couple of hits icon_sad and then stood there and laughed about it. Is there no such thing as honor anymore?

Of course – they'll always be asshats to come along and try to ruin your game play. But – be happy that a game like Darkfall exists – otherwise it WOULD be a lot worse if those players were let loose on Wow. /shudder

I played Darkfall for about 3 months and endured the worst kind of PVP possible. The game is actually really fun except for the full loot feature and the horde (forgive the pun) of complate jackasses from both factions. The final straw for me was when a member of my own faction put a debuff on me while I was in mid-fight (debuffs are not considered attacks btw) …waited for me to die and then stole everything…armor…underwear…you name it and laughed hysterically about it.

The kind of person that plays Darkfall that REALLY gets off on just ruining other players game play is just sick in my book. Add to the fact that it would probably take about 6 months of hardcore playing/skilling up to just barely compete in PVP makes it more unbearable.

Anyway – hope you find Loque again and maybe try to get him around 2am during the week like I did – not many peeps around then icon_smile

I totally can associate with that!  Saleen and I had gone back to level 10 (I first saw her as a infected runt on Azuemyst Isle).  When they made wolfs A number one,  I waited a good 4 months before putting her into retirement.  (You will come to find out from my stories I hate things being shoved down hunter's throats and I 'take it to the man'  and go against it for as long as I can.)  Until it was apparent the other hunter's were above and beyond me because of that she was faithfully by my side.

  Sniffle,   we killed Illidan togather~!

Spirit Beast are amazing looking~   I just wish the Spirt wolves were still tamable!

Not crazy. I only had my wolf since Outland (about 3 weeks or so), but when I had to let her go to get Arcturis I hesitated for a minute. I kept looking around for other players and thinking that a stable is JUST around the corner, I could drop her off and be RIGHT back, but I didn't wanna chance it. Kinda felt weird about it for the rest of the night. Then when I realized I was queued in a Dungeon and had no pet that was the same level as me, I felt even worse. I had to grab the first "wolf" (Devil Dog) from Zul'Drak and now I gotta level it up for an hour or so to get back up to speed. You definitely can become attached to a pet. Either that or I'm crazy too. Sealed

You can actually report that!!  I knew someone who did that and he got banned for 5 days, think Blizz takes that serious because they know how many people spend hours apon hours camping these beasts.

I can see taht Eddy,  wouldn't ever have thought about doing it though.   People can be rude at times,  unfortunately more people are rude then nice in the game because they can hide behind there avatar.

I managed to get around those awful feelings of loss and guilt when, after some months at icon_eek, I finally had to abandon Felin, my first level 10 cat from Teldrassil. (There's a reason for the similarity of our names, by the way – but that's for another time. Suffice to say that the "-in" ending of my own name is a feminine diminutive.)

I knew it would be hard, so I planned it in advance. I had Loque (my first SB) in my stable alongside my original cat and with the same name. Somehow the spirit of one transferred to the other. So even though the time eventually came to make way for the other SBs and a devilsaur (now replaced with TB) I have not really abandoned my Felin at all.

Yes, yes… I know I need help!

Oh I nearly forgot… the answers to the original questions are: 1) yes; 2) no; 3) it depends what you mean by 'useful'.

seeing as my guild lets me raid as bm and use what ever pet i want without any bitching,  its really up to you, go with a class and pet that everyone else is using (mm and wolf) or sacrifice that few hundred dps, and raid as a spec you love(what ever it be), using a fucking bad ass spirit beast, and in the end still down what ever boss and get your mad loots
