Being the achievement junky I am, I post on the guild forums that I'm looking to get the last of the "defeat" the heroic instance achievements on my list. I get the usual response that of course people would love to help out, the guild I'm in is very close and like doing things for each other. The reason I am posting though isn't this, as it is what the response to my post went on to say.

She went on to say how great it is to have me along on the instance runs and how great of a job I do at keeping things locked down as a Hunter and not screw things up by being obsessed with my dps. (I'm averaging between 6k and 8k in heroics, depending on the fight.) She goes on to say how nice it is to have a veteran Hunter running with the guild. (Lots of the Hunters we have are WotLK additions and don't have the experience with trapping that I do. I know quite a few of the "old school" tricks to trapping that make quite a few of the guilds Hunters go, "hey that's pretty nifty!")

Anyways, the point of this post was that it was nice to get a compliment and hear someone say the appreciate the work I put into the class and learning it.

Hi Tak,

That is wonderful!  Yes, it really is great to have an old school hunter in the mix, and I'm so glad Blizzard brought this style back into play.  I think this is the most I've ever loved playing my hunter.  (we were in ICC last night, and i was so sad when i had to flip over to my healer to help out.  BUMMED, i was!)

Care to share those tips at all?

Yea Tak, I'd love some trapping tips that you have! I love the new roles we are having to take, and it's been fun learning, but any of your wizened info you'd care to share would be great icon_smile

(1) MM have a unique trap method that other two specs dont, Silencing Shot to pull casters into the trap.

(2) Line of sight something into a trap. Not many of the newer instances have spots to do this, but they are there.

(3) Set your pet out of line of sight of a target and misdirect to him/her. Drop a trap inbetween the target and your pet.

(4) Scatter Shot, trap.

(5) MM can also double trap. Freeze one target, hit readiness, freeze another target.

(6) Distracting shot to pull something into a trap.

(7) This is more of a tip then a method. If your not trapping something, drop a trap in between the group's healer and the main target to hoefully catch any strays.
