I'm doing a pickup group random and get Zul'gurub. In the group is a kitty Druid that is geared to the teeth. One of those you wonder why he is even doing instances anymore. It is apparent right from the start that this guy is one of those that his gear has gone to his head. He spends a lot of the instance talking about how great his dps is, etc.

We get to the last boss and I'm told to take out the "ghosts" that spawn. I'm ok with this because I've been put on ghost duty before and did pretty good job. However, this group does the fight in a way I've not seen before. Rather then break out the chains one by one and burn them down, they go with breaking all the chains out first, then burn them down.

The fight starts out ok and I'm able to keep the ghosts under control, but then after the third chain is busted out, all hell breaks loose. A whole bunch of ghosts spawn, to many for me to handle and to many for the group to handle, we wipe.

The Druid starts in on me about how I should have been only killing ghosts and how he had to kill them all himself. I tell him that I WAS only killing ghosts and that no one could have kept them in check after the third chain had been busted out. He starts ranting about how much I suck as a Hunter and how all Hunters suck.

After listening to him go on and on through the whole thing I finally told him to "f" off and dropped group.

Oh yeah, at one point in the instance I put him on ignore, but the group bitched at me because I wasn't following instructions then, so I had to take him off ignore.

I'm sure you lasted longer in the group than I would've, Tak. That's pretty much why I don't pug those anymore. If I don't have at *least* one other guildie I don't queue anymore, and even then I'll drop, and quickly, if it's bad.

Players like the Druid you described are just jealous cause they're not Hunters icon_wink

Judging form your report about the Druid constantly commenting about his leetness and DPS it's obvious he is compensating for real life issues-specifically a small dick.

You're welcome.

What Oz said, I've not ran a single pug in Cata normal or heroic.  It's held me back, but I'd rather be behind everyone else in content than to put up with the BS in pugs.

I've been with several groups that manage the fight exactly as described.  I can't manage that many ghosts and assign someone else to ghost duty while the melee handle the chains.  Kite them through frost traps and tell the healer to stay close, not much else you can do. Misdirect the ghosts back to him and tell him if he's so good shouldn't be a problem to manage them.  icon_smile

And I agree with what Agio said.

I've never understood the concept of being held back. Who cares? Hell I'm doing WotLK solo and have no real issues with leetness. I find the 5 mans hard. S'far one of the things I find most amusing is blogs that talk about a hunter who 'should' be able to solo such and such. That cracks me up-do it , don't tell me it 'shoud' be soloable easily but you can't be bothered because you're too intent keeping up with the Joneses. That's the mindset of folks like this player Tak is writing about. Does it irritate me that I will never have the optimum gear so I can solo even harder stuff? Yeah to a degree but nothing compared to the aggravation running with a bunch of asshats would. I'm not snivelling, I chose to go solo and given my proclivity for wanting to be half-assed decent when playing, PvP is out. Hell I'd be spending 10 hrs a day just trying to understand Gars guides icon_smile  I like the game, I surely will not have it spoiled by a wanker or ten. Reading trade chat makes me almost want to quit at times and take up checkers. Anything beyond that is self-abuse. So I sez F em.
