I'm a level 85 MM hunter with terrible skills and low dps.  I'm tired of it, and want to improve.  I don't know if this is the right place, and if not, a suggestion of a better place will be appreciated.  My item level is 368.  Got a Lava Bolt Crossbow, and a decent two-hand melee weapon.

I've tried researching shot rotation, and get all kinds of information.  Too much information.  Should I go BM and get a strong pet, or stick with MM and just learn how to play.

Don't worry about hurting my feelings.  I've been kick out of plenty of dungeons, so I'm used to ridicule.

I love playing a hunter, but i'd just like to be good at it.

thanks.

Hello!
As far as DPS goes MM is probably the easiest answer. Have you researched for the top MM PVE
DPS spec? Making sure you have e best appropriate spec will deffinantly help.

Having your gear enchanted, gem'd and reforged properly will help. How are you reforging at the moment? Are you hit capped? If you are you should reforge items to Crit if the do not already have it.

What pet are you using? For MM a Cat pet can offer really good DPS. Also are you specing your pet for the most DPS?

I will definitely research again for top MM PVE DPS.  I think my gear is gem'd and enchanted correctly.  My hit cap is 8.2 (can't make it lower) yet.  I will check that everything else went to crit.  I have a cat.  Does it make any difference what kind of cat?

I will have to learn how to spec the cat.

Thanks!  Now I have something to do!.

Warcraft Hunters' Union has a good guide with lengthy discussions on raiding DPS pet builds. Here's the link if you're interested.

Regarding DPS pets, personally it's a toss-up for me between the Cat and the Wolf. Wolf if I'm in a party, Cat for when I'm soloing (or the party is melee-heavy).

If a Tauren Hunter and a Tauren Druid marry and have children, you will end up with BraveStarr and Thirty-Thirty.

(1) Post your armory link. If you don't know how or don't have that info then give us your character name and what server your on. This way we can take a peak at your armory and see if its your spec or gear that is the problem.

(2) It does not make a difference what cat your using. They all have the same abilities, just make sure you talent them right. Again, if  you give us your character info we can look you up on the armory and see what is what.

(3) As for a good MM rotation, I run with…….Serpent Sting > Chimera Shot> *repeated steady shots till chimera comes up from cool down*. When the "free" Aimed Shot comes up I throw it in the rotation, same with Kill Shot, usually before or after Chimera Shot.

I'll let the experts guide you on all this stuff but the 1st thing I suggest is change your gloves. They are leather. You're losing out huge on the 5% Agility buff mail specialization gives hunters. It's a biggy. Grab some mail gloves with those leather stats n it'll be a starticon_smile

Ooo…yeah, Agio is right, your not doing yourself any favors with those leather gloves. Replace those with mail ASAP.

Other then that you look ok. What type of dps are you putting out? I've run into quite a few people that think they should be putting out the huge dps they see in raids, but their gear level just won't allow it. So say for example you probably won't be able to match my dps, just because you are still sporting some heroic level blue items and just need some time to upgrade.

There is also you may need a good rotation as I posted before.

I'm with Tak- what DPS are you putting out that you think is so horrible? Knowing a little more about your numbers and playstyle would help us give you more specific advice. What shot priority are you following?

When you said 368 I immediately thought, "you've obviously done some of the work to get geared up relatively well, you can't be all that bad," but wearing leather gloves… yeah, gotta change that right away icon_smile

Share with us a little more about how you play.

Blindcoyote-once you post your link on here (mainly as it's a pain to keep looking it up) and give some DPS numbers, playstyle. IE: are you a mouse clicker or a keybinder? and rotation as the above two players requested you will find-s'long as you ignore everything I type, you're gonna improve immensely. Trust me on this. At the Lodge we don't care about mistakes or newbness and there's no such thing as a 'stupid' question so don't be shy, spit out the info Smile Your hit is way high-anything more than 8% is a waste and you can replace some of the weaker gear faily quick. All easily changed. You're already @ 368 so it's probably just a lack of finding the right information and implementing it. You've three talented MM hunters offering some help (one unparalled when it comes to fashion trends) so you're in good hands here with LodgeState. Premiums are remarkably low as well.

Hi matey, welcome to the Lodge.

While Warcraft Hunter's Union is a great place for guides, so is right here. If you look through all the guides Garwulf (and a few others) have put together, along with associated comments, you'll learn heaps!

Another part of the game that is pretty important is macros. There are a few abilities you can group together to go off at the same time, and others you just can't. I also suggest a look through the Macro Guide also on this site.

Keep in touch, even Agio is friendly after a while  *wink!

Cheers,

D
