So, obviously I am not at blizzcon.. but looking at the home page, I see the talent tree changes.

So, they are basically removing talent trees save for a few of the spec-defining abilities.

Not sure if I understand this correctly but:

You get 6 talent points at level 90, and all the other little things are made baseline?

Looks like the "Specialization" tab is pretty much the same from what I can tell, you choose one of the three specs which gives you your main attack, explosive, kill command, or chimera, as well as a few stat bonuses and your mastery, and the talents are un linked from your specialization.

I do like how you get to make your own spec now, instead of being forced to choose lesser-of-the-three evils. Kind of like rift, except extremely simplified. Rift has like 70 talent points, lol.

At first glance, it seems that "dumbing down" talent trees, like they did to cataclysm, makes everyone play the same damn boring spec, but the way they did it seems that is not going to happen. Instead of just making a decision once and following the cookie cutter path taken off of your local forums that everyone uses, you get a significant amount of leeway. You can become a BM hunter, and then take all of the marksmanship talents, if you wanted to. There is a lot of options. I forsee A LOT of bitching about this change on the official forums by people who won't look past the fact that they think it is simply dumbing down the talent trees again.

Overall, I think it is a good change, but the real question is are they going to fix the list of broken mechanics we have had since bc that is long as my leg? Removing minimum range is a good sign, but that is only one step in the right direction.

I've been thinking much the same.

They probably won't fix hunters, they added the pokemon battle system, so blizzard thinks we will be distracted exactly in the same way as 4.3, MORE CUTESY WOOTSY PETS!! THAT KILL!

Watch out for those holy paladins getting tons of prot talents. It will be early-WoTLK all over again*shudder*.

I laugh at all the QQ about "panda monks" ripping off of kung-fu panda from newschool wow players who don't realize they were already in warcraft years before WoW or Kung-fu panda existed.

This. Cool

I do hope they fix the bugs, such as Disengage not shifting our position properly even though we're already flying through the air, and the one-shot-on-summon pet HP issue. But what I like about the simplified Diablo III-type talent table is that it's a lot more customizable than the previous trees. I already made up a few PvP builds on Wowhead's sample calculator and ther number of combinations are staggering, though playstyle and other factors will still determine the true weaknesses and strengths of each talent.

Also, I remember Blizzard mentioning that Ret and Prot paladins won't be getting the stronger heals they used to be able to talent for before. I think it's on Wowhead's BlizzCon report.

If a Tauren Hunter and a Tauren Druid marry and have children, you will end up with BraveStarr and Thirty-Thirty.

The pet bar disappearing is another frustrating bug that needs fixed. Can't count the amount of times I was screwed over in PvP because, hey, my pet is just standing there going "duh, what do I do?".

I've noticed my pet standing around a lot more recently, even when the pet bar WAS there. Unless it was simply a graphical bug and he WAS actually attacking but looked like he was standing next to me. Very buggy stuff in raids, for me anyway. I sent in a bug report the third time I noticed it in one night, but I only rcvd a "thanks for sending in a bug report" message.

Here's a nice article mentioning exactly how the pandarians fit into WoW lore:

http://www.orcisharmyknife.com…..d-who.html

I love Rades's line: "To put it bluntly, it's fine if you don't LIKE Pandaren or if you don't WANT them to be the next race. But if you say they don't exist and have never been in the Warcraft universe, you're WRONG. Simple as that."

lol, win

That is a really nice article. Thanks for linking it, Oz.

I'm only mildly into the lore of the game, but I love it when subtle little hints and suggestions, like that quest he mentions, tap into a piece of the game's backstory that is actually quite important.

It's freaking amazing how these guys are able to create and weave this whole storyline, knowing there are people out there who will sweat the smallest little detail and inconsistency. It's truly epic.

Rades over at http://www.orcisharmyknife.com is *awesome* when it comes to tying in lore and backstory with quests and NPCs. He's really creative and funny, imo. I know that stuff isn't for everybody but if you like it, I highly recommend you check out the blog. It's not a Hunter site, but I'm willing to overlook that, lol.

I think it's great, giant pandas aside….I've been hoping a hand to hand class would emerge eventually, all those useless fist weapons may now get some use. We'll see how everything else goes, there's always a ton of complaining going on about the changes that happen, but we all settle in to them eventually.

The pandas seem a bit cheesy at first glance, even though apparently they've been living on the uttermost fringes of the World collecting tons of lore dust, I do however like a whole lot the ability to choose what faction you want to take Jack Black…I mean your panda that's been here for ages…to, I like being able to pick Horde or Ally regardless.

As of right now I have no interest in it – makes me feel like I am playing one of my son's Pokemon games.

If I had to chose talents today, they would look like this:

I am thinking of this. http://www.wowhead.com/mists-o…..ulator#hdH

Opting for the frozen arrows for better kiting I'm thinking.
Exhilaration Paired with Crouching tiger Hidden chimera should allow for some concistant healing since I disengage often.

I was thinking poison arrows may have problems being dispelled.
