Greeting to all Hunstman's Lodge members.

My name is Agra (Derek). I am new here, having only just found this site. First I want to give HL staff cudos on the website. I love the site background image and think the site is well done. Makes me jealous. ;-)

About Me:

I just turned 40 this past July, and have been playing video games since the Commodore 64 days. For the younglings thats been a long time ago, you veterans should remember those days. Gaming has come a long long way since the days of Zork. ;-).

I have been playing online games for the last several years now, including FPS, Military games, MMORPGS, and have dedicated most of my online game play these days to World Of Warcraft.

At present I play Wow mainly on Moonguard (Alliance toons) and Shadow Council (Horde toons). I have a couple toons that have leveled to 85, including Priest, Mage, and Death Knight. I would have more 85's but play time has been much more limited of recent then I had hoped.

I look forward to reading all the hunter related information. While I have been playing Wow for a few years now, I recently created and am up to lvl 62 for my first hunter. I am having a blast with him.

I am not a WoW elite by any stretch, but hope to learn as much as I can from those who are. I do well with most WoW theorycraft except for the math. hehe My brain just doesn't want to do math while having fun it seems. Who knew?

Well, thats about it for now. I wouldn't want to bore everyone with all the rest of my life details. ;-)

Thanks for stopping by.

Agra (Derek)

Welcome to the machine, Agra. Sit down, have a cigar, you're gonna go far.

As newbie to the forums, your job will be to hand out daily quests to those guys in BoA gear over there and…

Just kidding. icon_wink

If a Tauren Hunter and a Tauren Druid marry and have children, you will end up with BraveStarr and Thirty-Thirty.

Substance20,

hehe. quite alright. I remember what it was like to be a full-fledged newbie. Shcok and horror. But I also remember playing other online games when they all first came out and you could not walk two steps from a safety zone without being ganked all day long.

all part of the learning curve. ;-) ya do what ya gotta do to survive.

So who wants a quest? Free quests here! Get your free quest to glory! oh well. ;-)

Hi Agra, welcome to the Lodge.

I hope you don't consider yourself old… I'm over 50 and have been playing games since I pushed lead and plastic figures over a tabletop! In the early 90's I was playing games by snail mail, and then the days of the microchip arrived and I've been playing games since… my motter is too old for games, too young to care!

There are a few of us here also on Moon Guard, but we are Horde! And proud of it!

Enjoy your stay, you'll always be welcome, despite your faction.

Cheers,

D

Hi Agra!  Welcome to the Lodge!

If you like the background and site design, can I point you to the Gar UI which he maintains meticulously in fits and starts when the muse strikes him?  and your demographics are terribly suitable to the forums as well, and I look forward to your contributions.

Now… a hunter on MG and NOT in the Bees?  You must have met Anj along the way… or Drach… or Abby… or Jazzy… or our Ozzie ripoff Jhaerok… I'd say you'd meet Darwynn, but he's a tad bit focused while in his BG's and it's hilarious to think you could put a pole dancer in front of him and he wouldn't budge an inch from the slaughter… :-p

At any rate, huge hugs and WELCOME!!!

Niika, he's Alliance, if he's met any of us it's been at the wrong end of a flaming arrow or glowing blade!

Nonetheless, welcome to the Lodge Agra! Enjoy your stay, and unless you come to your senses and faction change your MG toon to Horde, I'll be looking for you on the battlefield, and I promise you, no quarter will be shown!

Seriously though, I'll probably just /wave and /salute a fellow Lodge member icon_wink

It's great to see another player in our age group!

Hello Darrwyn,

Nice to meet you too.

Hehe Darrwyn, nope not saying I am old. Yet anyways. Glad to see someone older then myself enjoys playing wow. All too often it feels like a bunch of young punks (no offense meant to younglings, just punks). ;-) really no hard there either. To each their own.

I still have some old D&D modules in the house. hehe was just considering getting rid of them. I still have painted figurines that I had done many years ago. Its kind of funny to look at them and realize I have many of those lead figures now as toons on Wow.

I remember the snail and /email games. I gave up on the email ones once people started to hack the packets. BRE was one of my favs to play on BBS's during the 90's. How to world of gaming has changed though.

Niika,

What is the Gar UI? I have only done limited things with add-ons for wow, and am hesitant to screw up anything major. Slow pc means I cant really run alot of graphic intensive addons. I really need to upgrade my main pc but money has been tight lately. icon_sad

Sorry for the confusion, let me clarify: I dont actually have a hunter on MG yet. icon_sad My present hunter is on ShadowCouncil and is a horde Belf. He is my first hunter. I moved one of my main toons to that server a while back to play along with my cousin who also has a hunter there.

Since I moved my main toon over (he was a holy priest), I found I played on that server much more often then on MG. Mg is where I started all of my main toons. Most of which are still there, but I have been discouraged there in the past.

Not your fault I know, but I was in a large guild, then the gm and his GF broke up and she booted everyone from the guild. Ouch that sucked. I really hope to get back to playing MG more often. Perhaps I will hook up with some of you there as I really enjoy having other people to go do stuff with.

I level pretty fast these days, but still gets boring trying to be a group of 1. icon_sad

Ozolin,

Thanks for the warning ;-).

Actually my main toon was a holy priest named Agradros. He was on MG as a human. I switched factions to become a Blood Elf, but also moved him to SC to be with my cousin over there. Long story. hehe

I tried to separate my alliance and horde toons simply because I have a different frame of mind when I play either side. I tend to RP more on alliance, but as horde I tend to do more pvp stuff. There are aspects I like about both sides. Besides I still get lost in Orgrimar. ;-)

Bite me, Ozzie.  I was so excited to greet a fellow MG-deean that I didn't notice.  :-p

Darwyyn, that is so cool!  Plus, i"m sure you probably made Drach feel MUCH better that he's not the oldest player in Bees.

Agra, it's hard to run a large guild (Screaming Bees is one of the largest on the server) but LOADS of fun.  Haven't gone anywhere in almost 5 years, can't see myself leaving now.  If you would like a laid back home to level and PVP in, you are welcome to our home.  We'll even ask Zeftie/Tokii to lead you in a trike parade around Orgrimmar!  hehehee

OK seriously, i'm into minimalistic graphics and Garwulf, Proprietor and Main Porer at the Lodge here, has designed this sweet looking interface and instructions at:

That said, i have YET to install it… too busy wrangling these critters.  /raises a warning glare at her Bees

You know what's even better than a trike parade? TURTLE parade! Especially now that we can have our pets follow us around while we're mounted.

Agra, I'm levelling a few toons on Moon Guard and would welcome a levelling partner now and then. I can even show you around Orgrimar. I was very confused myself after The Shattering when the place changed quite dramatically. I have recently started a Shadow Priest (now lvl 12 I think) and a Rogue (lvl 4?) so you would have some company in the trenches. I don't level very fast as I mainly pvp and don't bother with instances until I can solo them for the fun of it. By the time I can do that, the gear isn't worth much except to sell.

Niika, is that you constantly putting that pole up in front of me? I keep running into the dam thing, I'm so focussed on my target! And there's a dancer on it?

Wow that is a ton of stuff in that ui pack. Not sure why, but I always forget that we can "code" addons and stuff for WoW. Must stem from my UO days when addons of any sort would get you banned.

I will have to take a look at some of those. I primarily only use a few addons, most notably, questhubber, auctioneer and healbot, and ahandful others that don't come to mind atm.

What I really want is that nice WOW mouse system. Still using a two button mouse and function keys. kinda hard to pv when you have to stop fighting to move backwards ouch hehehe

If time allows, I would even consider learning how to make the addons. What language does the wow system utilize for that stuff? Anyone know a quick link to find the info?

Seems you all are horde on MG, so I might have to come intro all my alliance toons to ya. ;-) so you can all laugh and kick sand at me. I think my highest lvl ally toon is about 72. Since my priest went horde. ;-)

I have some open slots over there so I could always create a couple more toons. Nothing wrong with having 20 toons to play ;-)

"sorry dear, no fun, no work, I am playing wow, until the sun comes up" ;-) oh wait I do that now.

Oz,

I don't have a turtle. icon_sad I am still getting the hang of some of the pets. my hunter right now is not BM, I picked marksman.  I will do the BM as off spec for pets later. As this is my first hunter I was unsure exactly which spec to level. Many other sites were not entirely clear on the subject. Plus even without BOA I seem to be at the top of the dps scale when I am in instances. Not sure what a decent range is at lvl 64ish… I really have gotten to like the multishop talents that cuts focus in have with crits. Seems that a decent pull nets me several MS in a row. which is so way cool..

For pets, I have a wold, buzzard, hyena, and spider for now. Most all setup for dps. I use spider for solo questing on runners.

I only have basic mounts so far. heck, just got flight and I so miss it at lower levels. they should make a BOA flight mount that you can send lower toons and have it work. muwhahahahaa oh sorry wishful thinking. ;-)

Darrwyn,

I would level with ya. I am always up for company. I will be honest though I do level pretty fast now when I solo. I am sure I am not the fastest, but if I have boas, and depending on class, I average 10 or or levels a day up til about 60-ish, then 5 or 6 per day until icon_eek

Priest was my first toon ever leveled to 85. I leveled as a holy all teh way to learn exactly what I could and could not do or handle. I have a shadow spec now, but only afterwards. I wanted him to be a damm good healer and know his limits.

My mage however, I leveled him to 85 in under 2 weeks. He had all boas outside of guild rep ones. He just blew through everything. I don't even remember doing any dungeons with him. Also once I figured out he got xp from mining and herbalism, I was stoked. In fact I leveled 77-icon_eek without actually killing anything or questing. Just gathered mats at like 5k xp per item.

I have been dungeoning with my hunter and the gear seems to be pacing better then the gear for questing. But not sure if that is common across all classes. I know my mage never dungeoned until lvl icon_eek and I never dungeoned with my priest while leveling. hehe was to weary of dungeons back then. hahaha

Man, what's the hurry? Stop a minute and smell the Fadeleaf, or the Felweed… wait, that's not a good idea… 10 levels in a day! WoW sirrrreeeee!!! But then it seems a lot of people are in a hurry these days… Because I play this toon and that toon, and him, and her… (yea, I got a couple girl toons! Anj understands, right Anj?) anyway, as I was saying… I enjoy the journey as much as the destination, especially with all the new content around… You'll probably go way past my toons in no time, but I'll happily wave as you do.

Cheers,

D

Lua is used to create most addons. You can visit the official Lua website for more details on how to use the language. =)

That said, sadly I'm on an Oceania server (Saurfang–yes, it's PvE, but I've rolled on a PvP server before, and I really don't like having to look over my shoulder 50% of the time). I'd roll on MG but I probably won't be able to handle latency on Stateside servers. icon_sad

Also, glad to see another old-school gamer on board. icon_wink I may not be as old as most of you (a couple years away from 30), but I loves me arcade classics when I sees 'em. =)

Darrwyn,

hehehe no worries. I have toons that dont level so fast.  I do not do that on all toons. It really depends on what I am trying to accomplish. ;-) I toook my time with my priest, but raced my mage cus I wanted a high dps for lvl 85 gear to earn more money then my priest was earning. ;-)

I have toons at all levels that I use for the purpose of socializing at different levels. I too do find it fun to enjoy the slower pace at times. ;-)

Mate, don't worry about latency. All the Oceania servers are in the US anyway, so there is no diference there. My latency is much the same regardless of server.

The main difference is the number of people on the server at times that Oceania players are accessing. I'm a shift worker so tend to play at any time of the day or night. I find the US servers are quiet from around 3pm (GMT+10) whereas the Oceania servers are just getting active then, with kids arriving home from school, and later from 7pm when Mums and dads find time to get on.

Cheers

/sighs heavily and rolls her eyes.

Aggie, just roll a hunter on MG.  Bees don't have enough hunters, we need more, especially if you're going to be PVPing and digging deep into mods and add ons.  You can hog the stripper pole from Darwyyn.
