I am now level icon_eek. It has taken me: 8 days 10 hours.

Anyhow, I re-specced to MM, I might not get dual spec until cata because then I save myself 900G hehe. Got myself a wolf and now I am spamming hcs until triumphant then I'm going to go grind dailies for rep for the mount achievement. Also, I'm going to endeavour in buying some gems for my armour!

Here's how things currently look. http://eu.wowarmory.com/charac…..cn=Aszunei

Just letting you know! =) What advice do you have?

Congrats on icon_eek!

(1) Get rid of the PvP armor for PvE, it's not doing you any good. There is plenty of stuff in heroic runs that can replace the pieces. Here is a site I use a lot to find where gear drops. It isn't always accurate to judge what will bring your dps up, but I find it quite useful for finding gear.

http://www.maxdps.com/hunter/m…..anship.php

(2) Get some enchants. Gar has a great guide here on the site.  http://huntsmanslodge.com/gars…..r-enchants

(3) Skill up your professions, especially Engineering. You can get a couple of nice item enhancements from it.

http://www.wowhead.com/spell=55016

http://www.wowhead.com/spell=55002

(4) ENJOY THE GAME! This is the most important one. Don't let others dictate how you play the game. You're probably going to have people tell you that your gear isn't good enough to play Marksmanship spec, but if it's what you enjoy, then go for it. Also, don't let don't let things like gear score or femaledwarf.com rule your WoW life. They are good tools to use, but don't let them take over how you play and enjoy the game.

Congrats! I wish this was my thread. The 70-icon_eek thing is killing me.

I'd like to echo that last bit about having fun. In my short time playing this game I've encountered quite a few people that have forgotten that's exacty what it is, a game. Gearscore, DPS, guild drama, and everything inbetween. Doesn't seem like much fun to me.

Enjoying the game is and always will be my top priority! =) That's the main reason I'm going for the Mountain O' Mounts achievement. When I've got more permanent gear I'll enchant up, I've now upgraded quite a bit with two triumphant pieces. I've actually also noticed the PvP gear beats all the HC gear I have seen drop hands down.

Engineering is such a climb and a money-sink though! I will do it icon_razz

Thanks for the advice.

Keep in mind as well, with Engineering you can make:

http://www.wowhead.com/spell=44155

http://www.wowhead.com/spell=44157

http://www.wowhead.com/spell=60867

All of them count towards the mounts achievement. Good luck on it! I'm up to icon_eek/100 mounts myself.

Didn't want to make a similar thread, so I thought I might as well ask here.

Hit icon_eek over the weekend and noticed right away while queuing for random dungeons that my "gear isn't good enough" to get into heroics. When I asked everyone what I should do in order to get better gear, they all said I should grind heroics…yeah. I remember getting this same feeling when I applied for my first credit card. How do I get better gear if the "only" place to do so won't let me in to get it?!

Is it possible I'm very close to meeting the requirements? Will swapping one piece make a difference? I only have 24 Triumph badges atm, I can't even buy anything worth while yet. Any suggestions? Should I just buy higher level BoA blues on AH one at a time and keep checking to see if that lets me in?

edit: Some Googling revealed that items need to all be lvl 187? Does that sound right? Looks like 4 or 5 of mine are, but the rest are not even close.

Grats, Koru,

Could you give us a link to your armory?  There are some quests that can help you get some gear appropriate to do heroics in.  Also, how did you get your Triumph badges if you weren't getting into some dungeons?  Doing those ad nauseum will help a LOT.

Thanks! It's quite a relief. Laughing

Here I am.

http://www.wowarmory.com/chara…..;gn=Exiled

The badges I have now (2 a day) are just from doing my first random each day. That could take a while at that rate.

I mentioned this before, but maybe I shouldn't bother? I don't mind grinding through dungeons to get better at what I do, but maybe doing it simply to get purples that will be obsolete in a few months isn't worth it. Not to mention all the gold I'll need to gem/enchant said gear. I really would like to see the inside of ICC at some point, though. I'm kinda torn. Undecided

…think of it this way.

Cataclysm is scheduled to be released at midnight on 11/2.  That is about six weeks from today's date.  In six weeks, you would need to get all your gear to a minimum level of i232 gear (very general rule of thumb) with output at a minimum of about 4K to 5K dps.  Judge your current output with the requirements to see if it's worth busting your ass to get into ICC before Cataclysm hits, compared to preparing for the upcoming expansion… mainly:

Old world flying is rumored to be about $5K.

Specs will change, talent points completely reset.  Shot rotation, glyphs, gemming and enchants.

Pets are all getting revamped.

New rewards for all professions (eyes your Level 39 Engineering skill)

Just a thought, but would you like to consider answering your own question after considering all this?

If you would like to quest to up your gear to get into heroics, try this…  http://hunterloot.com/intro.php?fd=1&fl=16icon_eek42&g=190837  (i hope that pulls you up) and click on each slot you want to upgrade. Scroll down to look for Crafted items, or drops or quest rewards.  Hmmm…. at this time, I am not seeing quest items in my list for you, however, it could be one of the limitations set.  At any rate, I wanted to show it to you to come up with a list of suggested alternative upgrades, so you had a place to start.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do.

I didn't even realize a date for Cat was set yet! And so soon! That does change things.

So, before I even prattle on further, I could stay in the exact gear I'm in now, then come Cat, literally start leveling to 85 and getting the very same gear everyone who's been playing for years will be getting?! It has been confimed that level 83-85 greens and blues are better than the majority of curent T10 gear? I just want to be perfectly clear on this.

With that being said, maybe I should just putz around getting that second profession maxed out and farming some skins for extra gold. At the very least I could try to fill all my gear slots with "superior" blues just to get into heroics and whatever I get there, I get. I wont bother gemming/enchanting it, I'll just slap it on and continue running heroics just to get better at playing the game/class.

I guess that's a good enough plan as any, right? Thanks for the advise.

Gems and enchants are stupidly inexpensive right now, so don't let that stop you if you see something.  And yes, you are pretty much on the same theoretical playing field as someone like me, who's been raiding on different toons since Wrath came out.   I'll have the edge as far as education goes, but I'll be questing and regearing in six weeks as well.   I do realize I am dramatically oversimplifying things, but if you step back and think about it, it's really true.   Nice, huh?

There are few pieces you could buy off of the AH that would help you make the cut for heroics. I'm not encouraging you to buy them, but just offering some suggestions. Depending on how much G you have, it may be worth it to grab a few pieces. If you can start leveling in Cata with some ilvl 232 ICC 5-man heroic gear, things wil be a lot smoother.

PvP gear is another option. Free and fairly easy to obtain, provided you enjoy doing some BGs now and again.

Those are just a few pcs that come to mind.

It also wouldn't hurt to just run regular heroics until you can upgrade some of your greens. You've also still got 2 pcs of Outland gear, which I'd imagine is hurting your chances quite a bit. You could upgrade the neck and 2nd trinket via quests. I bet that change alone would unlock a few of the easier heroics.

Get your gear up to where you can start farming Coren Direbrew (Brewfest boss in BRD). It's a super easy encounter, can be run in under a minute, and is farmable. What you want from him is: http://www.wowhead.com/item=49074

There's a very rare chance, but he also drops a dagger that would be nice for you. Of course, don't roll on it if a rogue is present who happens to need it. ;-)

Ack, all of that would cost me in the range of 2k gold on my server. There's literally one of each. I know that sounds like chump change to most of you guys, but I have just over 4K and don't even have Artisian Flying yet. That FAF I mentioned before offered to run some VoA with me, so that's a possibility, but I'm not holding my breath :-/

Thanks for the suggestions, Gar. I am able to get into Direbrew Dungeons. I'm on my 8th run and no Coaster yet. The DAMN Brawlers Souvenier comes up A LOT, though!

And thanks again, Niika. Always very helpful. Laughing

I'd say to just run the regular dungeons until you can get around ilvl 187 or better. Shouldn't take long.

Once you get to a point where you can farm regular ToC, you should be off and running. You can usually get one ToC run after another, which will have you geared in no time.

Coren's Chromium Coaster + the Banner of Victory from ToC is an awesome pair of trinkets.

So yea… just save your gold and have some fun burning through dungeons. Running these instances will be a good way to continue to learn the class, even though you're still going to have to re-learn some stuff anyway.

You're not gonna believe this. After the 20th or so run, he dropped the Coaster and I won the roll. That's not the unbelievable part. After equipping it, I clicked on the dungeon finder and you'll never guess what wasn't greyed out any more?! I'm good!

Thanks! I never would known to do that. Even if I did the instance once, I would have figured the drops were just vanity items like other special event items. So awesome!

You aint kiddin'. Upgraded ranged weapon and second trinket from just 4  heroics. Not to mention the addition of Frost badges and 2 more Triumph every  time instead of just once a day. Which brings me to me next annoying question. Go for T9 or stockpile for the Justice Point conversion?!  You don't have to answer that! LOL

Man, a new expansion should be an exciting time for most, but for me it's just a big pain the ass! Tongue out

eh, since they are crazy easy to farm, I would get two t-9's.  You'll have them by the end of the weekend, and still have the set proc well into Cat.  I'm sure Gar or Indo or Tak can make a better recommendation than  I can on which would last you the longest, but at least it's a start.

Thank, Shiilo. Smile

Niika, bear with me, what do you mean "two T9's", just 2/5 pieces?

Is this what I'm looking for? http://www.wowwiki.com/Conquer…..7s_Pursuit

If 210 emblems will get me the whole set, I'm sure I can do that by the end of the week.
