Usually I can figure out soloing 5 mans. I mean I'm not bragging here but I recently soloed Gnomeregan unbuffed with a gearscore of only 350…..and I did it twice. 'nuff said.

But recently a lil bee has been in my bonnet and it's been stinging the hell out of me.

For whatever reason (okay because it's there) I want This and as I'm sure many of you know to acquire it I need to do This punk heroic on a timer.

I've ran this thing at least six times (first 2 don't count as I was familiarizing myself with the instance Foot in mouth)  and at best I've come marginally close before getting myself or my pet whacked or running out of time or all three. I am also getting seriously tired of that guy I'm escorting. His tardiness and constant babbling is getting on my nerves.

I've read about paladins (why do paladins always do videos with crappy music?) and DK's and droods soloing it but I'm not one of those. I cannot seem to nail this thing nor have I found any info on-line about a hunter soloing it. I'm sure there have been many (or not) and I've read a hunter should  be able to solo it (hunter blogger who wrote that hadn't). My lack of skill is hurting my l33tness score plus my pet has taken to wearing a paper bag over its head whenever we're in town.

So I come before you, admitting what a disgrace to the hunter community I am, beseeching any and all of you to take a break from soloing Stonecore and all those easy Cata Daily Heroics and help a dummy with an old WotLK instance with any tips, suggestions, strats and 50 dollars…. each. If not for me for the general Hunter community rep because I'm killing it.

If, on the outside chance this timed instance is in fact actually hard to solo as a hunter, when I do it-and I will, I'll write a spiffy guide on it that no-one will care about or read and I'll give any helpers all the credit. You could all be famous!

Thanks in advance.

I've not tried that one solo, but I will, I'd like to have that mount too, have it on my lock from back when we were still icon_eek.  Last night I got Rivendare's Deathcharger on my Pally, for some reason RNG doesn't like my hunter, I think maybe Ghostcrawler put something in the code.  icon_smile  Back in the days of icon_eek, the gauntlet type fight was the slow part, Arthas is slow and you have to keep pushing him by pulling mobs past him.  It might work to target a mob down the alley, and have your pet pull mobs to that target, when Arthas grabs some aggro MD to your pet, and he'll follow (maybe), then rince and repeat, but you probably already tried that.

I've tried UP heroic a few times trying to get Reins of the Blue Proto-Drake, but for some reason I cannot get Skadi on the ground.  If anyone has any tips on how to hit him with that <insert word of choice> harpoon, I'd love to hear them.

What pet are you using Agio? If it can dare peek its head out from the bag for a sec, maybe we can give him a pep talk or something.
I've never tried, but now I want to lol. I'll see if there are any tips I find by running it as well, maybe we can all put our heads together and figure this out for you, and for your hunter pride as no pet should hang its head in shame!

Well, I thought everyone had that bronze drake >.< I've been through there in groups so many times where everyone passed on it cause we all had it. Never tied to solo it though so this post isn't really very helpful.

I've tried a million (okay, maybe a slight exaggeration) times to get Rivendare's mount with no success icon_sad I need to figure out how to get Argent Dawn rep too, cause I forgot to finish that.

CG-Grats on the horse. Him I'm leaving for later. Right now it's this damn drake and that bird thing in Setthak Halls I'm chasing.

Yup you're correct, I've tried most of your suggestions. I've parked the pet and I'm casting misdirect so often the pet is cussin me out. He pulls all the damn zombies too so you end up with swarms of punk mobs plus the hitters on him. I found I lost too much time. As for Arathas he ummm dies pretty quick icon_smile My biggest pain is the 1st 10 waves in stage one.

As for Skadi. I'm chasing that mount too. Ran it last night as a mater of fact. After you run past Skadi, he gives his speech n takes off and the mobs start coming at you. You need to whack em and they drop harpoons. You need 3 harpoons to bring him down. Then you run to the harpoon launchers (other end of where Skadi originally takes off) and a "Skadi or his dragon, can't recall, is in harpoon range" blasts across your screen. You click on the harpoon launcher and fire away. You have to fire off all 3 in one of his passes (adds will be thumping you a bit) and he lands, more adds but not too bad and then you whack him. If you don't get all 3 fired off you have to grab more. The adds are like garlic breath, they never go away til Skadi lands.  I read you can camo past most of the mobs and bosses to get to him if you're in a rush. I tried but meh… Hope that helps and that I of course get him before you! Wink

Drach-I've tried Loque, Skoll and my reg #1 Ace Wolf and Terrorpene. Frankly I'm running out of bags. Best is the peener s'far. The others ….uggh got killed.

For glyphs I dropped Bestial Wrath as you only need it for the bosses and went with misdirection instead. That's helped but you still need to kill the waves fast. Also that clown you escort you absolutely have to talk to at the town hall to commence phase 2. I uhhh got lost on one run….

It's a tricky gig. You can't camo as you know, you have to kill the 10 waves that appear in Part 1, two of em with mini-bosses. There are supposed to be lil white flags that show up on the mini-map where the next group appears but I think you have to be by the dude you're escorting so he can yell em out. Dunno. I figure to memorize the spawns and be ahead of em instead for speed. The 1st five arent bad though they do pack some punch but the 1st boss meathook can cast chains on you and if he snags you you're screwed for time. Him I attack from behind or the side. I've gotten to stage 2 but ran out of time and you cannot reset the instance. Irritating.

All the zombies wandering around I just keep dropping explosive and ice trap once they swarm me or the pet.

I could say it's because Im not geared to the nuts but thats wimpy. I figure it's my bad play but I'm having great fun trying to do this sucker and yes, we will succeed. Now if you post that you breezed through it I'm retiring and moving to Rift.

Oz-I figure most do but I've only been playing or paying for WoW for 9 mos and entirely solo. I refuse to get anyone to help! With 2 players it'd be a snap.

Agio, that explains it, being ranged I was always up the hall blasting adds and never looted the harpoons, I've been getting one and trying to knock him down.  I camo'd through some, but not all of it, you don't have to activate where the beasts are, I killed Svala, but then went straight to Skadi.

Oz, Argent Dawn is pretty easy now, you can really do it in a few hours of grinding.  Here's a pretty good guide in the comments, Fiona, and once you get to the repeatables there's a trick.  I was told later that you don't have to do Mr. Grubbs, but it is a companion pet.

Do Aberrations of Bone first at Scholomance, then do Annals of the Silver Hand at Stratholme on the Monastary side.  The reason I did them in this order is you only have to do them once, the book you have to loot respawns, and you can fly to turn it in, retake it, fly back to loot it, over and over till exalted.  All the mobs will be fighting NPCs after you kill the last boss so you can just run in and out.  I did do this when Cata was first released, so they could've changed the looting of the book, but I've not read that any place.

lol CG, I did exactly the same thing 1st couple of times and was like "Why in F*** won't you land?! Bugged, it must be bugged!"

It takes a lot of effort to play as bad as I do.

I'm about halfway to Exalted already, thanks for the tips. I'll have to go check and see what quests out there are available to me before making another run.

I decided to stop trying to do so many of these at one time, so I did the mount from Magister's, then yesterday I got lucky and got the Raven Lord mount.  I've still not tried heroic CoS, but I got that mount when we three manned it for the guild achievement.  Today though, I decided it was time to give Skadi another go now that I know how to do the harpoons.  LOL

Then I thought, well I've gone this far no need to stop now.

Grats on that Bird CG. I've not got it yet. I nabbed the chicken from Magister's on my one and only run. Natch I figured all mounts were that easy to get. Good call on my part that. The Skadi run is fun. Now you have the harpoon thing handled you should go for this Achievement while chasing the mount. It's kinda fun and I find chokes my irrtation at not getting the damn mount. Barely

That's how RNG works, I got the chicken on my 39th kill of Kael'thas, and the bird on my 32nd kill of Talon King, it doesn't track Anzu kills.  Skadi is fun now, but sure hope I don't have to kill him 40 times.  LOL

It's been awhile since I went after the bird. Last time I ran Sethekk Halls I camo'd past everything I could to get to Anzu, whacked him and the last boss then in my haste to get the hell out forgot to camo on the run back and got mind-controlled, twice. Killed every damn critter from a snake to a rat in the instance then flew around Terrokar killing every Arakkoa I could find, even babies, to ease my irritation.

I'm always grinding rep for some faction or another so I clear Utgarde, I think it's around 10 runs now and no drake yet.

Maybe give CoS Timed a go CG, share in my failure, please… Or succeed and make CNN!

I'm thinking I might have to do it as MM. That's blasphemy.

Grats you guys, ya'll are soloing machines! I have always wanted the raven lord mount, to me it's one of the coolest in the game, now I'm going to have to go for it! Thanks for all the tips, and just thanks for sharing the stories that encourage all of us lazy hunters to get out there and try and solo things!

The RNG has turned me off from runs like these. Countless trips through Stratholme, Sethekk, and Magister's Terrace without any mounts have hardened and embittered my heart to trying. Same can be said with my luck in finding Sambas and Terrorpene.

I've become a grumpy old man, sitting around Org telling "back in the old days" stories about running out of arrows and having to find specific beasts to learn specific pet skills. icon_razz

I could see that Oz. I've no use for camping or daily going after anything in this game. That's a lot like a job. That's why I've laid off Sethekk for now, if I get a hankering to do 10 mans or whatever rep I want I'll be back in BC land.

Twilight is fun because I have a couple other things I'm mucking around for. If Sambas hits me in the face, great, if not meh. Don't care much for him anyhow.

My max for ' looking' for anything is an hour. One buff, then I go elsewhere.

Hey, if you're lurking in trade chat pining about the good ol days you are Sir, well on your way to mediocrity. No easy feat unless you're me.

Evening Update: Speaking of pets I don't really care about. Tamed Sambas whilst mining TH. He did hit me in the face. NpcScan Overlay is great by the way.
