Master Angler - YAAAAY! - General WoW Discussion - Hunter Forums

I am so excited!!!! I just won the Kalu'ak Master Angler derby today.  I'm so excited over the Dread Pirate Ring!!!!

And now that I'm not in a BG, going to edit this post for the full story.

I've only tried for this ring a couple of times, at the encouragement and challenge of another guildie.  (the very same one that teases me about being a 'huntard' until he leveled his own and fell in love.)  He's been logging in faithfully every Saturday for months now, trying for the ring for his alt-itis addiction, and for the Dread Pirate Ring.  He showed me the wow-wikki page, teased me about not giving a damn, and that all good fishermen would definitely do this quest.

So, another guildie asked about good fishing locations, so I logged over to Niika to fly out and made sure I had my fishing finder on.  I got there late (after the derby started), was chatting to my guildmates, forgot to click my bobber when the fish hit, etc.  By the third drop, I clicked on it and went "huh… a black tipped shark…" and was like HOLY CRAP! THE BLACK TIPPED SHARK!  

Hearthed to Dal (took forever on loading screen), ran to the derby master (yes, I forgot to mount, and went the long way) and when I got there, I went to the Marcia and not the Walrus.  It was comical at best.  Then, I stopped to read the quest.  (Tak, you facepalming yet?)  

It hit me that the achievement had not yet been done when I saw the Dread Pirate Ring as the loot.  I started shaking, closed the box without selecting it, when my screen started filling with other people running to the turn in the quest.  I got it at the last moment, and was flooded instantly with whispers.

I was SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!!  I love this quest, I just never thought I would get it.
