I have a macro set up to apply hunters mark and start attack on my focus target (tanks target). When I want to switch targets and pick up adds is there a button that allows me to cycle through the mobs and select one to attack or do I need to mouse click on the next target to attack? It seems easy enough to just mouse click on my next target but with all the chaos going on on my screen it's sometimes hard to pick up where my mouse pointer is and when mobs are grouped close together it's tough to mark a particular mob to attack.
The <tab> key will select the closest mob but not always the one I need to target.
Thank you
Taz

I use tab myself, always have. I must just be used to the spam tab till I know which target to hit. I don't play with nameplates on or HP bar over there head.. so that only shows when I have them targeted… so it make it easy to see which one I have tabbed to.

That's pretty much what I do as well. If I can predict or prepare, I'll use the mouse. Otherwise, I cycle with tab.

Tab targeting seems to have been buggy for quite awhile now, I try my hardest NOT to use it. I don't think it works as intended anymore, sometimes skipping EVERY mob in a grp of 5 right in front of my face and instead making the decision to target a mob clear across the chasm in Grim Batol! (only let that happen once! what a nightmare…). While attempting to make aggro watching easier while tanking on my DK I found a nifty "nameplate" addon called tidyplates that will mark targets nameplates by color depending on the amount of threat I have from all targets and which mob i have tergeted. I found that with a little tweaking of the options it has become very useful for my hunter as well. Omen is great for knowing when ur close to pulling threat but it doesnt mark the target about to turn around and rush you in a group mob situation! This one does, and you can click the nameplate instead of the mob, making it easier to click the right target every time. I never ran with nameplates turned on til I found this, it always seemed an eyesore, but now it just makes keeping track of everything a little easier. My main focus is always the tanks target… but sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do, tank target be damned! =)

Playing with nameplates off, is not an option for me anymore, thus I need to be aware of specific adds' health status in many occasions, whether in a HC dungeon or a raid, or PvP situations.
Or sometimes I need to pick a specific target manually and swiftly by clicking its nameplate(like the chains at first boss of blackrock caverns) . When spamming tab sometimes you spam too quickly and miss the intended target and you have to spam several times more to re-pick it and waste critical time. You may end up breaking CC by mistake when using tab spam also.
If I'm firing at will, I use tab to fire free explosive shots in quick succession on different random targets, in between the multi shots.
If not using AoE, I simply continue clicking the shots and let the auto targeting handle it.
The addon called Virtualplates used to show the nameplates with different size in relation to their proximity, adding them the 3rd dimention, which made it way less confusing than it is now, but unfortunately, currently some aspects of the nameplate codes can't be altered via any addon, which made this awesome addon unusable.
