OfflineAs a survival i would say, take all your crit away into mastery, if you hafe excess hit which you dont need take hit also away and put it into mastery, as mastery you will do more elemental dmg which means your explosive shot and blackarrow will crit more often also yourserpent sting will be able to crit more often. haste is important but mastery gets priority as a survival.

I don't want to sound rude, but how exactly does refitting your crit into mastery make explosive shot, black arrow, and serpent sting crit more often? I have found it best to reforge all my haste into mastery because speeding up steady shot will only make me use arcane shot more often whereas mastery and crit will make my main damage dealing abilities (explosive shot, black arrow, and serpent sting) do more damage as I already get enough focus with only 10% haste.

Whats your average dps tho? I normally keep up between 7.2 and 8.5k sustained in heroics aslong as everything is pulled right.. The one problem I've been having is that I cant seem to get up to 10k+ dps single tar like I've been seeing from a lot of hunters with the same amount of gear. http://www.wowarmory.com/chara…..n=Mercilyn any ideas and fixes to my gear/spec/and reforging would be much appreciated.

Well I don't know what everyone else is doing, but I have reforged all my gear into mastery. First I reforged haste into mastery and if there was no haste I would reforge crit because my focus gain with 10% haste is good enough to keep serpent sting, black arrow, and explosive shot up constantly with an occasional arcane shot so I don't need anymore focus. Doing this I can sustain ~13k in icc on a static fight.

I put all my hit into mastery which only raised it to 10% (until I hit the cap of course) then I put the rest of the crit into mastery which raised it to 18%, but my crit went from 57% to 49%…No big deal I said as long as my elemental damage was hitting harder all the time. I was wrong. I ran two randon heroics and finished both with 4.4 and 4.5 dps. I then switched all that mastery back to crit and ran another two. My dps shot up to 5k and 5.1

OfflineI was contemplating reforging this morning and had a look at a few guides.
Our friends at WHU suggest Mastery is a throwaway stat, even for BM (which doesn't make sense). That said, the guide also added that Mastery is still better than haste.
Therefore, I reforged Haste or Mastery into Hit where I could, to get the 8% Hit and then into Crit (Which is best for SV according to WHU) .
Time will tell what Recount makes of that. I was happy with the daily run through Grim Batol I did with my guildies… overall dps > 9000 (best ever for me) in normal mode.

Crit is your strongest stat (Obviously getting to 8% hit, 7% as draenei, takes priority). While Mastery will increase elemental damage by 1%, you have to realize that a crit is 200% more damage (203% if you have the meta gem). It also effects ALL of your abilities, as well as scales to your pet. As for mastery or haste, I'd recomment getting your haste high enough to get your cobra shot down to a 1.66 (going up to about 1.62 if you have minor latency issues) cast time. After using explosive shot, you'll have just enough time to get 3 cobra's in before the cooldown is up. (This is including your global cooldown as well)
Reforging away from Critical Strike is going to lower your dps. Going over or under a 1.66 cast time is also going to leave extra time between that final cobra shot, and explosive shot, or delay your explosive shot.
