We have a ten man gearing team that's a bit DPS challenged.  We usually stick all the dps on the left Blood Beasts, and I get the right side.  I'm dropping a frost trap at 5seconds, concussing them when they come out, then kiting them around.  They are much faster than me when they come off the frost and out of concuss, and i'm still monkeying with cooldowns, so they catch me.  I'm wondering if I should drop my frost trap sooner, and hit concuss at the end of my initial shot rotation and disengage then.  Tips and tricks would be nice.  It was messy, but we got him down.

My dps in ten man sucks, frankly.  I can't stand all the movement due to our lower geared players biting the big one.  I need to learn to not beat myself up in them.

Have a tank ready to taunt it back if need be, that works well for me.

i will try that too.

Actually, I think I am sick of raiding.  I don't know what is going on, and I am completely frustrated.  We had a hunter MD on the wrong tank on Festergut right at the pull, wiping the raid.  We had someone hauling ass through Rotface with ooze on his butt, right through melee.  We have a disc healer who feels he's better off on raid heals than tank heals, and a shaman who thinks overhealing is just dandy, and a DK who did 2.6k dps.  *I* do that on my DK, and she is a farmer, and without the 30% buff ICC provides.  These folks are not in my guild, or I would speak with them and try and help them out.

I guess I am just frustrated, and I don't know what to do.  I am not the overall raid leader for this group, but one of the organizers, and guild leader with the most members to the group.  If I give up, the team could stand to loose 12-15 spots, with the main tank, offtank, and main raid heals.  We had a quick meeting right after the raid with the officers, and our tank is a hard core raider, and the most positive guy you would ever want to meet, and even he is discouraged.  hahaha I even cried after the raid tonight, I just felt like I was letting everyone down.

edit:  Indo, put your armory link back in your sig file, damnit, so I can drool over what I could be upgrading to…

That is my armoury, I just made it into a funnier link icon_razz

As far as it goes, at this point Overhealing isn't an issue, the issue is people living, and with mana regen being the way it is, nobody worries about overhealing.  Disc is actually a better raid healer than tank healer, their bubbles being spammed on the raid prevent a ton of damage, allowing a Pally or Shaman(two best classes for tank healing, honestly) to keep up the tanks.

But yeah, I hear you with being burned on raiding, it's why I stopped at the beginning of August, and have been doing lots of other stuff, but I still keep up on current theory craft and stuff(hell, I helped write some of it).

God, see how tired I am? I didn't even notice it was a link.

We didn't have a paladin healer to start. The offtank has a baby heal set and since the other offtank did not go dos when asked, she went holy since it did not appear we had even a dedicated tank healer.

It all doesn't matter. I have clearly stopped enjoying things. I just need to move on.

For the blood beasts the raid group I'm with we have a Hunter posted to each side just within reach of the healer. When blood beasts are about to pop we run in, drop a frost just at the feet of Saurafang and disengage back out. When they come out we pop them with something to get their attention. When the right side one is about to step out of the frost trap effect our DK uses chains of frost on it and that Hunter distracting shots the one that is headed to the left side. Meanwhile the dps is killing off the right side one that got chains of frost on it. Then they switch to the one on the left side that is now after the Hunter on the right side.

Sometimes we also have a third Hunter in the group. When this happens one of us gets posted in a center position and that Hunter drops the frost trap instead. Usually its our SV Hunter because her traps last longer.

As for the raid thing, don't blame yourself Niika. It's not your fault that they can't get it together. It should be the raid leader themself that is kicking people in their arse and getting them up to parr. The raid I'm in is lucky enough to be all guildies, so we are used to working together and following our raid leader. Sometimes though we have to go outside the guild for fill ins. When this happens, the raid leader firmly states, that this is how we do this and this is what we want from you. If you can't perform these duties and listen, then we will find a replacement for you. If it ends up being we can't find a replacement that we know will perform their duties, then we just cancel the raid for the week.

We have alliances with other guilds and try not to go beyond them when recruiting fill ins. Pugging a spot we hardly ever do because it almost always ends badly.

Also, if its effecting you to the point that you cry about it, definately take a break. It's never a good thing to let something like this start effecting you emotionally. I know I have had spots where I stepped away from raiding because I needed a break from it all. I usually worked on achievements or did battlegrounds. Something like that.

*NOTE* Batttlegrounds aren't always a relaxing thing for me. For the longest time my fiance didn't thing I swore. One day she snuck down be me while I was doing battlegrounds. She gasped when she heard some of the swear words that came out of my mouth. I can get very frustrated when I get stuck going up against the classes that a Hunter has really no chance against, like S.Priests or Affliction Warlocks. Another thing that frustrates me is the Horde on my battlegrounds server are notorious for not killing healers. I've seen Resto Druids standing in the middle of a group, keeping 4-5 people healed and the Druid never even gets touched. Well, that is unless I started filling them with arrows, but thats usually just a distraction more then anything. I've rarely been able to take down a well geared healer on my own. *sigh* Look at me rambling on. Guess I will end this here. Hope this post helped in some way Niika.

I was curious about something, are you intentionally kiting to lead them away, then kill them, or just trying to kill them before they get to anyone else? And are you doing heroic mode or regular? I run up and drop my frost trap at Saurfang's feet about 5 or 6 seconds before blood beast goes off, so I am back at my position when they appear. I usually pull the one going after the healer I stand near and kill it, then pull another one towards me and kill it. Most times they arent even close enough to hit me before they die. In heroic mode they tend to get to me a bit more before they die, but nothing a quick step back and shot cant cant take care of. How close are you to Saurfang when the beast come out? Maybe you just need to be farther away?

I know how you feel I really hate the blood beast and there are times when I have such a hard time with them. I was taught to do the run up drop frost trap thing too and usually I hit it with concussion shot too right off the start.

Sounds like you need to take a break from raiding. When you get to the point where the game you play for fun isn't fun and is causing you to literally cry you need to stop. I'd even go as far as to say take a couple days off from wow. One of the reasons I'm so into the game is because I worked 15 hour days on weekends and I just don't have time to play. this gives me a two day break to drool over what I want to do Monday icon_razz Or level another toon. I noticed that when i level an alt for fun, and actually take the time to read the quest story lines and what not I have a great time just playing solo. Either way, smile and chillax. Your way too awesome of a person to become burnt out and quit forever. Who else will entertain me on the forums?

Niika, as your therapist, I suggest you finally go after that Explorer title. I had more fun doing that, and got to see some sweet things. It helped to refocus me and helped me enjoy a different dimension of the game than just the raiding and gear upgrade stuff that can be tedious. Plus get you a twelve step tiger, or a self help gorilla, also helpful.

I can't thank you enough guys.  I really really really hate to do this to my guild, but I may turn down tomorrow night's run.  I do not see it going any better than last night's did, and I really do agree with you, Drach, and I am loosing my own priorities.  Boba, thanks, you make me giggle too.  It is far far better to have a smile on one's face in life, than to toss and turn at night over something as silly as a computer game.  I just hate letting people down, and have always tried hard to make sure that each run is a success, no matter what the challenges are, even if not a single boss drops.  There was just so much sheer despair in the air last night, that I do think that it would be horrible of me to try and push people to go just so that I don't leave the raid leader bereft with half the raid gone.  It's not like this is a life-or-death situation.  I do want to talk with him, he's a super guy, I just can't keep going like this.

It's just a game, sure you have other people who might be depending on you, but honestly, like in all other walks of life, you come first, everybody else second, that is to say, your health, both physical and mental should be your top priority, and from the sounds of it, this is a very unhealthy situation for you, so kick back, relax and do something else that will allow you to enjoy the game again.

I'm not going to pretend it will be easy at first(lord knows it was hard as hell for me when I stopped), but you'll get back into it again sometime.

Oh, I have no problems walking away from the game at all.  I'm not quite at that point.  I'm more at a "grrrr, i hate being so visible" point, and feeling like everyone is watching my every move, and listening to my every nuance in vent when I'm trying to get the raid leader's attention, or asking if we can pull it all in house, etc.  I just want a bit of quiet time to refocus as you said, and redirect.  And I need to be responsible and let the raid leader know that that is necessary for me at this time.  Just not sure now, if I will be doing that before tomorrow night's run, or after.  He's sent me invites well into October I now see.

How about just going fishing? Grab your pole, your favorite pet and fly to some iceberg in Northrend away from everyone and just fish, munch on a few snacks, talk to your buddy. It becomes evident real quick whats really important.

+1 to that. Sounds like good advice for everyone to follow once in a while.

We have our dk's chain them. Hunters distract shot them so they wont attack the melee pile, and we have druids in front of ranged group to use push back. We dont kite them unless something actually goes wrong.

Range have to grab aggro immediately, and stunners/freezers/chainers/pushbackers make sure they never reach ranged while we nuke them down.

We do saurfang 25 hm.
