I've done a bit of reforging in the last couple weeks, so I thought I'd put down what I'm doing. It's not meant to be so much a guide, as a confirmation, so if something doesn't make sense, please let me know.

Firstly, I've found it really easy to hit cap (246 or 8%). Hit just drips off everything, it seems. Early as an icon_eek, I picked up the +95 Hit PVP trinket which helped no end. I wanted to be able to swap items in and out without being too worried by dropping below the cap. The trinket achieved that for me.

With the gear I accumulated from heroics, and 2 T9 & 2 T10 pieces I found myself with about 10.49% hit. Time to reforge, I thought.

I found the reforger in Simply Enchanting at Dalaran and swapped out Hit for Mastery on all my gear. Each piece of gear retained some Hit on it, but now has Mastery as well. Other bits and pieces of gear I swapped out Haste for Mastery, because, as a Beastmaster, Haste only helps Steady Shot really, I believe.

Well after my time at the reforger, my various Fidos' punch, claw, swipe, bite or sting packs an extra 18% oomph (excuse technical term), because Mastery directly improves our pet's damage.

Well this is what I have done. If I haven't got it right, please let me know so I can fix it. If I have got it right, please let me know so I can gloat.

It sounds to me like you can gloat away my friend. As long as you are still hit capped, reforge that extra hit garbage into mastery! I also belive you are correct about the haste, unless it has an effect on your auto shots too, I'm not too keen on the what all haste effects either. But as far as what you're reforging, I think you are right on track, so shout your gloat from the mountain tops as far as I'm concerned.

Haste also helps with Focus Regen.  By any means don't go looking for haste,  but don't get rid of it all either =D

Steady Shot

Auto Shot

Focus Regen

It's still a useful talent for BM  but just not a main stat to go for =D

Haste isn't bad, but it's not as valuable as mastery. Haste has diminishing returns, where as Mastery just keeps on payin'.

As long as you can get your Steady Shot close to a 1.5 – 1.6 sec cast w/ Focus Fire procced, you can safely reforge the rest into Mastery. Steady is the only shot that's affected by haste, apart from auto shot, so it becomes less valuable once Steady's cast time is at or below the GCD.

Mastery affects all damage our pet does.

That's how I see it at least.

Have been reforging all my extra hit into mastery also and was wondering which is generally considered better for BM, crit or mastery? As in is it worth reforging any crit into mastery or keeping it as it is?

What I did with Cel's gear which I apply for MM and BM.

-Reforged to get my hit balanced out.

- Then Reforged the BIGGEST number I could get off of the rest of my items.   Sometimes it was crit-  other times it was Haste.

Whichever number was higher to give me the most mastery is what I swapped over.

This might not be the 'recommended'  out there at the moment.   But it has worked for me,  still maintaining 15K DPS in ICC.    Other thing to remember.   5.. YAY FIVE…  days it don't matter!!  The gear will have mastery on it, and we are back to square one,  where everyone is even on gear and all =D

I LOVE EXPANSIONS!
