Well, after looking at your armory, I see you are basically stacking 8agil/8crit. Its much better to use the epic gems of 20agil, and use a nightmares tear to fulfill the Relentless Earthseige Metagem, which you should be using.

Secondly, if you arent already, use a wolf. They are currently the highest DPS pet in the game for pDPS.

Thirdly, use the glyphs of Steady Shot, Hawk/Kill shot, and Serpent Sting.

And the hunter shot priority is:

  1. Kill Shot
  2. Serpent Sting
  3. Chimera Shot
  4. Aimed Shot
  5. Arcane Shot
  6. Steady Shot
  7. Silencing Shot

Meaning, use the shot first on the list if you can use it. If not, use the next. Etc, except only cast serpent sting if your target does not have serpent sting applied. Silencing should be macroed to all of your shots as it is off the GCD.

Lastly, use the pet dps talent build as follows: http://www.wowhead.com/?petcal…..00sc00hooo

All of these should bring up your DPS considerably. I should also note that keybinding is a great way to increase dps because of the improved reaction time.

As a general rule as a hunter you want to socket for Agi when you can and where you can, and don't worry about getting the socket bonus on your equipment unless it is a really good one (ex + 6 Agi is my own personal cutoff anything below that I don't even care about.  Also ignore socket bonuses that give Crit or AP as hunter's get Crit and RAP (ranged attack power) from Agi anyway.)  The gem that want to be using is the +20 Agi gem (Delicate Cardinal ruby) in most if not all your gem sockets.

However, your main problem is that you are massively over capped on hit by 83 points.  263 is the hard cap for hit, being over it to a massive extent can and will gimp your dps as you could be using other pieces with different more desirable stats on them.  If I were you I'd lose the T9 Chest along with it's +55 to hit and replace it with the Crusader's Dragonscale Breastplate (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47595) which is made by leatherworker's, you would still keep your T9 two set bonus which is awesome.  That is the quickest and easiest way to bring your hit rating down to a more reasonable level.

Notice I said "quickest and easiest way" which really means "not the most optimal way" as the real problem with your hit rating is being caused by one of your trinkets, the Mark of Supremacy (MoS).  Yes you are using some of it's passive +128 hitrating bonus to reach the hit cap, but not all of it's passive bonus.  I would look to replace the MoS as soon as possible, either the Banner of Victory (from Regular 5 man Trial of the Champion) or the Needle Encrusted Scorpion (from Heroic 5 man Forge of Souls) would better serve you and provide more of an upgrade to your dps than the MoS does.  Or you could trade in some of your Emblems of Triumph for Emblems of Heroism and get the Mirror of Truth (yes, it is better than the MoS).  Of course then you would be below the hitcap (by some 45 points), so you would have to gem for hit to reach the cap again.

As for your Major Glyphs:

Lose the Glyph of Trueshot Aura and replace it with the Glyph of Chimera Shot.  And replace the Glyph of Hunter's Mark with the Glyph of Serpent Sting.  As for why you would want to do that?  Well, Chimera Shot is the main damaging dealing shot of a Marks hunter so anything you can do to lower it's cooldown is pure win.  Making Serpent Sting last longer works in conjunction with Chimera Shot.  A big part of Chimera Shot's damage is based upon how much potential damage Serpent Sting does, so by using the Serpent Sting glyph you are increasing the amount of damage it does which in turn boosts the amount of damage Chimera Shot does.

As far as making a macro goes, it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it.

For starters bring up the in-game macro menu by typing /m; hit new; type in the name of the macro (for the sake of ease I just use the name of skill that the macro is going to replace such as Serpent Sting, Chimera Shot, Aimed Shot, Steady Shot etc &hellipicon_wink; hit okay; then type in what you want the macro to do, example you want to macro Silencing Shot in with Chimera Shot:

#showtooltip Chimera Shot

/cast Silencing Shot

/cast Chimera Shot

/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

Put the new button on your action bar.  For the sake of ease I remove the old Chimera Shot button and replace it with the new macro button.

Note you can do this with all your shots and not just Chimera Shot.  Example:

#showtooltip Aimed Shot

/cast Silencing Shot

/cast Aimed Shot

/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

Give it a try, a little later on we can get into macro'ing more commands (such as Kill Command) into your shots, but let's keep it simple for now as you are still learning.

I hope this helps you out some as go down the path of Hunter enlightenment <img class=" /> .

I get asked the question "what should my dps be at?" quite a bit, and more often than not I reply, "just as long as you have noticed an improvement, then that is all that really matters."  The more practice you do, getting used to keybinds, working on the shot priority, managing cooldowns etc.. the more your dps will go up.

Don't worry about it right now is what I am trying to say, just keep practicing. icon_smile

Hi all fellow Hunters! Just came across this site and hope you guys help me with a similar problem as the above.

I have a MM hunter which has been very lucky in the past weeks to aquire 200+ gear stuff. Levelled so fast i am blinded what to gem/enchant for. Recently i was invited to several ICC runs in which i top DPS on AOE but went near 5th on single mobs. I know my Hit is too high due to trinklet, but also questioning if i did the right thing to gem & enchant AP to the max. Read alot of discussions on AP or AG as 1AG = 1AP ?! Anyways here is a link to my toon, please advice what to do in order to increase single target DPS. Also a talent spec MM rotation advice is very welcome. Currently i start of with SP->Silent/Aimed->AS->SS->SS->SS->SS->Chimera Shot->etc,…

Yeah, once you start getting into ICC 25 and getting drops you'll start to notice your hit rating well .. exploding.  That said I think there's two pieces of gear you can lose without downgrading which will help with your overcapped hit.

First off your bracers, the Scourge Hunter Vambraces (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50000) which drop in the ICC 25 Gunship Battle are an awesome upgrade without hit on them.  Not to mention that fight is just win. <img class=" />

Second your boots, replacing the one's you have currently with Taldron's Long Neglected Boots (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=50812), which drop off 10 Man Festergut.  Also has the added benefit of being pretty much a park and bark fight where you can just blow every CD you have and not worry about moving all that much.  Of course if you have my luck you'll pop a CD and then get hit with Vile Gas <img class=" /> .

There's also the Rock Steady Treads (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49897) made by Leatherworkers, which are BiS – or close to BiS – and since I notice you're a leatherworker … go team!

Just by upgrading those two pieces you would be able to bring your hit down from 365 to a more efficient 272, still overcapped but not massively overcapped.

Hope this helps. <img class=" />

Gemming Armor Pen is good for MM Hunters who:

  • Are in mostly ilvl 251-264
  • Have a high DPS weapon (preferably Zod's)
  • Have at least icon_eek0 Armor Pen from gear alone

For most MM hunters gemming Armor Pen is not the best route. Agility is still preferred, as you need to be pretty well geared in order to see any gains as a result.

Not to mention an Agi centric build is more forgiving on movement heavy fights.  ArP MM Hunters need to manage their movement extremely well so that they don't miss auto-shots or Steady's, those shots being the one's that benefit the most from ArP capping.

Stick with Agi gems, when you get to a icon_eek0 ArP rating just from gear alone then if you choose to you can start pursuing ArP hard capping.
