So since the patch just hit i thought i would start a discussion about the good and bad changes to hunters. Ussually i PvP marks and PvE Surv but im considering going straight Marks because imo marks is ontop of the dps for pve atm. The 15% increase to arcane shot is huuuuge since i find your firing alot more arcane shots becuase you dont need to fire off another ability like Black Arrow. The buff to chimera which i think is like 10% (dont quote me on this) is massive. i was hitting 20k and critting 30k ish, 40k with my mastery trinket. Dps seems to be 8-9k as Surv in heroics where as it used to be 10+. As marks i find on spank bosses im hitting around 13k. I haven't gotten any heroic runs in since the patch yet, so I havent been able to fully check out how much my dps has increased. I did do some testing on a target dummy and I know my dps is up by 1500 to 2k there.

I'm sorry to see SV dipping that low in dps. I was hoping SV would be close to MM in dps.

Anyone gotten to fully test out how BM is doing?

I haven't tested BM for PVE, but I feel a good increase in DPS for PVP, but I also recently respecced after the patch too so not sure if that made a difference.

Also sad to see the drop for survival, but I'll still play it because that's the spec I feel comfortable with – and if I feel comfortable with it I would personally do better in DPS cuz I have the rotations sussed.

When you go Marksmanship, replace Arcane Shot with a hard cast Aimed Shot. Right now it is pulling so much more DPS it's not even funny. I've hit a max of 17-18k DPS with just heroics and epic rep gear. Marksmanship is making huge gains right now if you monitor http://stateofdps.com/ day to day. Before the patch, it was ranked second from last, only above Beast Mastery.

Yesterday i did 3 back to back heroics as SV and tbh i didnt notice that hard of a fall but im sure it did get hit. After that i did arenas a BGs and omg am i happy with the MM buff. My pvp dps is sooo much higher and the killshot really makes those sub 20 kids sit down. If MM is pulling better deeps in PvE can someone plz tell me a good rotation because i have never PvEd in MM spec.

Mark>Serpent>Chimera>Steady>Steady>Repeat from Chimera till target is below half health, then add Arcane Shot in after Chimera. When Aimed Shot procs, I usually throw it in after Chimera.

How about BM (sorry to get slightly off topic)? Any experience with that? I just hit 9K as BM (with Sambas) with the Love is in the Air dungeon. iLevel 333.

Haven't tried MM ever. So I'll definitely check it out this weekend and try out Takaas' rotation.

Many Marksmanship hunters are switching a a new rotation, similar to Takaas' but replace Arcane Shot with a hard cast Aimed Shot. If you are fighting a raid boss, use only Steady Shot (in pairs) and Aimed Shot for the first 20% to benefit from Careful Aim talent. For more information, you can read my blog entry on it here.

Could you link the quote? I was able to one-shot lvl 81 twilight dragons in Hyjal with Aimed Shot crits yesterday.

Tak, how is the new rotation running for you? I'm still trying to work out the timing on my aimed shots. I don't have enough raiding time, methinks. Keep getting hauled off to my healer.

I've been trying MM but really couldn't get the hang of the shot priority. I do well with the dummies but lose it with parties. I need more MM for Dummies stuff.

A dummies guide to MM would be good – but I the best way to get the hang of it is to practice practice practice (in parties). You can read 10 pages on MM, but that's a guide someone else wrote and the way they play, their macros/equipment all differ. So just need to go with the flow and learn new tricks, positioning, moving, timing etc and you'll be out dpsing everyone by far icon_wink Before I totally sucked at PVP but now like, Rogues would own me in seconds – after many nights of PVP'ing I can kill them (though maybe the rogues I have been up against weren't the skilled of the bunch). Still saying that, I don't think I'd go MM for PVP just because I prefer the playstyle of BM – and I haz no fancy mouse with a gazillion buttons.
