Kill shot and the Kill shot glyph - Builds, Talents and Class Mechanics - Hunter Forums

Hey guys, new hunter here, be nice =).
I searched and looked around the forums here, and it doens't seem like theorycrafting and number crunching is anywhere around this forum, is it just me being blind or is that simply not to be seen here?
My question or rather thought goes about Kill Shot with its 10second cooldown, and te Glyph of Kill shot to instantly reset the cd if target is still alive this ability has a 6 second cd itself, but isn't it then a pretty obvious key note that having 4 seconds less cd on Kill Shot all the time, instead of just firing the the shot two times in a row, i mean, the internal cd of the glyph will reset itself each 6nd second?
Why does the guides about Kill shot glyph then still just suggest casting the ability twice in a row?

OfflineOur theories crafted run more along the lines of fireside tales and how long to make that taming story; some of them rock the world. This is the right forum for your question, although if you could rephrase it (I think it's missing a key word there) it might make it easier to respond to.

Alright so Kill shot has a 10 second cooldown, with the glyph the cooldown is reset though the glyph has an internal cd itself, so waiting 6 seconds with firing the next kill shot will result in an instant reset of the cooldown again, and that way we could continue till the boss is dead.
Now i just wonder why in the world there is no guide at mentioning this, i do know that the glyph is not the one wanted for min maxing but if i in a situation were to get a better dps by using the glyph then it would nice to know how the glyph is most efficient, and my simple questing is if that is either waiting the 6 seconds until firing the next kill shot, or just using Kill shot off cd like a madman trying to get a killing blow?

OfflineStormbrace, welcome to the lodge.
As Niika suggested, we're not really min/maxers here, we are more into playing the class because we like it, though efficiency is still important.
That said: If you have the Kill Shot Glyph…
When your target gets to 20% health, you fire Kill Shot. If your target survives that, you fire another instantly.
For most mobs, that should do the job. Sometimes though, more is needed. Just keep pounding away with your other shots until KS is available again, which will be 6 seconds. Then do it all again if necessary.
In my experience it's only the last boss in a dungeon that needs this cycle repeated. Some other classes have similar finishing moves that pack a real punch so this doesn't happen too often.
Why people who write guides don't mention this, I don't know. Maybe their guides are suggesting using a different glyph, so it's not an issue?
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
D

Actually there's a bit of controversy surrounding the issue. Since the game needs to calculate whether or not the mob is still alive after the first Kill Shot hits, there's a slight delay before the glyph procs. Even then most people advocate doing two Kill Shots simultaneously since it's overall a lot faster than having to wait every 6 seconds staggering your shot, providing nice burst AND allowing you to fire off more Kill Shots in the same amount of time it would take for you to stagger the glyph (a computation on Wowhead reveals that you could fire off 6 Kill Shots when done instantly, as opposed to 4 when staggered, all within 20 seconds, but it is still disputed).
Even so, a lot of people are shying away from this glyph nowadays due to a bug leading it to not proc half of the time.
