So I have had a hunter since vanilla wow and for the most part have always viewed my hunter more as a fun toy / gathering type toon.

Pre-cata  I could on rare occasions get my DPS up to around 9K.  then patch 4.0 came out and i lost a lot of interest in him again.  (missing the 62 point talent tree)

Then I found this site and all that changed…..

Here is my current build : http://us.battle.net/wow/en/ch…..you/simple

The issue I am having, as are most is DPS.

I think i have read almost every post in here and feel that this is by far the best source for hunter information. (bows to Garwulf and the gang for hosting).

I know gear is evolving while im leveling again but what puzzles me is the flux, one instance I'll hit 6K on a boss, the next i might only get to 3.5K

I am hit capped, haste and mastery are both at 10% or better and cobra shot with FF active is almost 1 second.

any thoughts? or am i just being to OCC?

Las night after hitting level 83, I noticed my hit, haste and Mastery have dropeed some.  That will be corrected but DPS is still floating as I mentioned before….

I would imagine that it will "float" for a while until you hit 85. As I imagine, the groups you are running with right now are composed of players ranging in levels from 83-85. With this gap in level, your damage will vary because the higher levels in your group will be more than likely pulling more damage, thus skewing your numbers a bit. At least that's the way I understand it. You may try and take notice of this and see exactly who is in your group when your dps is lower and when it is higher. It could also be due to higher level buffs you are receiving or not receiving depending upon the levels of the others in your group.

Your build looks great! I would change a couple of glyphs though, you are getting no benefit from Aimed Shot as a BM, I would suggest getting Arcane Shot glyphed and possibly Serpent Sting instead of Rapid Fire. Another issue is unfortunately BM's are not pulling large amounts of damage lately. There is news that they are planning on boosting the damage from Kill Command in the near future to help with this, but until then BM's are just not going to be tops. But again, your question wasn't about being tops it was consistency. The only other thing I can think of would be what your rotation is, are you using the same rotation most of the time? Also as a BM be sure to take advantage of Bestial Wrath as often as you can! Keep us posted, and we'll try and help tweak your rotation as needed too!

Thanks Drach,

i'll look at my Glyphs again, when I see my damage move like that I am generally only watching with a common group in the same instance.

My rotation is usually something like this,

Serpent sting, Arcane shot x1 (so pet can close distance), Beastial Wrath, kill command, arcane shotx2, cobra shot (to refresh focus and serpent),

then its eiither rinse and repeat, or i toss a trap in depending on situation.

Now that im looking at this I guess I could start with serpent, BW, KC, then Arcane and Cobra.

typically on Bosses its

Serpent sting, rapid fire, Arcane shot x1 (so pet can close distance), kill command, arcane shotx2, cobra shot (to refresh focus and serpent).

i toss in focus fire and Beastial Wrath when they are active.

I am also trying to write a macro to go along with arcane shot to add fervor when its on CD to help with focus but right now it fires off early.

anything that uses a global cool down can not generally macroed together.

Since macro's cannot contain conditionals that judge when to cast an ability based off of how much mana/focus/energy/rage you have, you will have to manually cast Fervor or put in a modifier conditional if you are aiming to save button space.

Hey all,

I have spent the weekend doing nothing but grinding out the hunter, working rotation and what not after the tweeks suggested and figured i'd update.

My best run i was pushing 6.2K dps.

The hunter is fun again!

Thanks for all your help
