Help me help a hunter - Builds, Talents and Class Mechanics - Hunter Forums

I took a look through his logs, and this is what I found;

The Issues

1) His serpent sting is only up 51.8% of all attempts made, and 63.9% on your 6:05 attempt. This should be closer to 85-95% of the fight if not more.

2) On the 6:05 long fight, he used only 4 Aimed Shots from the talent proc and 7 Chimera Shots. This is an indication that he is not using Aimed Shot when it procs for an instant cast as well as not using Chimera Shot often enough when it comes off cooldown.

3) On the 6:05 long fight, he only used 1 hard cast Aimed Shot during the entire fight. This indicates he is not hard casting Aimed Shots under dynamic haste effects, such as Rapid Fire, trinket procs and Bloodlust/Heroism.

4) For CD's and pots on the 6:05 long fight, he used only 1 Tol'vir potion (did he pre-pot or use it after the fact?) he should be able to use 2 during a fight, a Pre-pot before boss pull, and during either a Bloodlust/Heroism or Rapid Fire/Readiness/Call of the Wild. He also used Rapid Fire 3 times along with Call of the Wild twice, as it should be for that buff as it is a 5 minute CD. However with Rapid Fire, in a 6 minute attempt, he should have been able to use 4 of them, which he did not. According to the logs as well, he is not hard casting Aimed Shot during any dynamic haste effects.

5) He is missing enchants, needs to be fixed. These can be found be looking through guides, very simple.

6) He is stacking a ton of haste but not hard casting Aimed Shots outside of dynamic haste effects, which is a major, major waste. He may as well keep a minimal haste plateu, such as 1235+haste accounting for latency, stacking Crit and mastery after that. Crit is always good, he should get more.

7) His spec is slightly gimped, he should have *at least* 1 point in the Termination talent. If you have a druid and a paladin in your raid, he does not need Trueshot Aura, as the 10%, 20% attk pwr buffs will be applied by Blessing of Might.

8 ) He also has the Tier 13 2pc for Hunter's. He could be hitting the focus cap, therefore wasting focus and costing himself dps, especially at that amount of haste. If this is the case, he needs to correct it immediately with obviously more Chimera Shots, which he should be doing anyways, along with Arcane Shots due to the amount of Focus being returned by Steady Shot. Steady Shot should also always be shot in pairs of 2, some exceptions can apply.

What Do I Do Now?

Have him research his class and tell him to use sites such as this to gain help on the forums or WarcraftHuntersUnion.com to search up a guide for his spec and rotations, haste plateau's and so on. If he is going to raid in a guild, he needs to spend the time to research his class and know what he is doing, logs will tell you everything if you know where to look and how to find it.
