I keep hearing about flask, and elixirs, etc.  The only thing I use now is Spiced Mammoth for my pet.  What would be the best hunter flask/elixir etc.  Could someone tell me if these are a waste or are different ones useful in different situations.  What do you other hunters use out there.

Flask of Endless Rage, pretty much the only flask/elixir you'll want to use barring very unusual circumstances.

I carry a stack of the spiced mammoth, one of Endless Rage, one stack of Blackened Dragonfin (agility MM food), and two stacks of Potion of Speed.  I pop a PoS right as the tank pulls, then again as Bloodlust is called for and my trinket procs.

I also have mana and heal pots, but the healers are great and I have Viper and i never need either.  I just keep them for solo farming.

Some of the hunters find the AP in Fish Feasts are better for them, and the upper tiered Arpen hunters use the arpen food.  I've also seen some hunters use the Crit potion, but the speed pots have been great for me.

I'm also thinking of changing my boot enchant from Icewalker over to Cat's swiftness for the speed/agi as well.

Well, he only asked about flasks/elixirs, so that's what I answered with, but to go a little further on what Niika said.

As far as food goes, you should really be using either Blackened Dragonfin or Hearty Rhino, or Snapperfin Extreme, depending on your ArP level and hit level.

As far as potions, Potion of Speed should be the only one you use, health/mana are rather worthless in raids, in 5mans though, ok I'll grant they can come in handy there, crit potions are only good if you are running 2P T9, and only to pre-pot them to roll a higher crit Serpent Sting.

For boot enchants, Icewalker if you need hit(Obviously), 16 Agi if you don't, or Cat's Swiftness if you want the movement speed boost.

Thank you, that was all very useful as usual.

If you are survival hunter then flask of endless rage is NOT the best option – its only the best option in terms of COSTS.

Your best option is to combine Elixir of Mighty Agility with Elixir of Mighty Thoughts.

No, it's actually not, there was a time when it was thought to be, but currently it's a slight DPS loss to use Mighty Agility/Thoughts.

And you base this opinion on what? Spread sheets? Please explain why you think this has changed.

For me, I personally find a greater dps using Endless Rage than using Agi/MT during ICC and ToC runs  (do not use it for 5-mans or other dungeons.)  I realize that I am merely a simple hunter, not a theorycrafter, and took the recommendation from FemaleDwarf.com spreadsheet for my hunter, yet it works for me, so I stick with it.  I am also a hunter that frequently tests changing gems, gear, food, and potions around, and this has consistently been what has been working for me for months.

I use fish feasts for the AP because I'm a Bad Mofo Hunter, I can't remember what elixir I usually use…It's an attack power one as well. This is more for the other Bad Mofo's out there reading this, I realize that the majority of you guys are going to be MM or SV, so thought I would give another perspective. I found it, it's an Onslaught Elixir, those are the ones that I can afford right now, but with elixir and food it boosts my AP up 140 which is quite nice, and of course as everyone else said, spiced mammoth treats for your codependent counterpart.

rofl I *totally* came to this thread expecting something from you that says:

"My elixir of choice is a good draft, with raid potions shots of whiskey about once a boss fight.  Buff food is a good APeroni with jalepeno kickers, and Codep here gets a meaty shoulder bone."

Spreadsheets, of course, I never base min/maxing off of opinion.

I ran the numbers on a near BiS setup, and it was a 19.4 DPS loss to use Agi/MT over Endless Rage, for lower gear levels Agi/MT might be better, but certainly not near the top.

This suprises me as the agi elixir alone creates half the AP of the flask of endless rage – plus all the other benefits from it + int elixir – as crit rating etc. I have pretty high end gear, but I will not start using flasks. I spend a fortune in time and money keeping stacks of elixirs and potions.

I do however wonder what is best, potion of speed or potion of wild magic. As it is now I prepot potion of speed, and then use potion of wild magic in combination with bloodlust+rapid fire.

Any thoughts on this issue please? Would appreciate feed back on this.

i agree with what Indomitus has said.   Only the concept I'm a few 50 points away from Arm Pen Max I use Elixir of Armor Piercing to get that last bit.   I can't wait to get a ring with it on there… even though that is null and void in a short time.

Wild Magic is not as good as potion of speed for hunters, the only time wild magic is good, is with MM in conjunction with 2P T9 at the start of a fight to roll a higher crit Serpent Sting for the duration of a fight, otherwise stack all haste effects that you can, as they work multiplicatively not additively.

Also, Diosa, the Elixir's total upto(before talents) 90 AP and roughly .5% crit rating, add in talent conversions and it's still 111.375 AP and slightly over .5% crit, that's with a 100% uptime on Expose Weakness.  The extra mana from Mighty Thoughts is honestly a wash, you shouldn't go OoM regardless of it.

Thanks Indomitus for the calcs. I'm a mathematical idiot so I just read loads and loads and draw conclusions. I never use spreadsheets.

I'm with you Diosa, I'm not even sure what a "spreadsheet" is, it makes my head hurt thinking about them, I'm totally grateful for those of you with that gift and your willingness to share.

http://www.femaledwarf.com is based off of Shandara's Spreadsheet, essentially it's a spreadsheet itself too, both of which are fairly easy to use, you son't have to be a math whiz at all to use them, now if you want to write one on the other hand…
