I suspect this might be easiest as in BM spec given all the focus regen (including Fervor) and quicker steady shots, but I haven't tried it. With Multishot now being instant cast, you only have to worry about the Global Cool Down on it. It can also be cast on the run.
The simple AOE rotation is to spam Multishot, switch to a couple of Steady Shots (or fire Fervor if you're BM) and repeat.
In effect, it's still sort of like Volley, only you can run around and shoot at multiple targets instead of channelling the ability. I was using this a little in some instances (Forge of Souls, Pit of Saron) and while doing some dailies (Oracles daily where you have to kill 50 Frenzyhearts. I used that bunch of Frenzyhearts on that platform repeatedly). The damage output in the Heroics was pretty good, I was in around 8k DPS, I think I might have been close to the 9k range. I didn't use traps to help out – I still need to sort out a macro for trap launching the traps.
I also haven't tried swarm kiting yet, but it might be possible by combining jump, spin, shoot with Multishot and Aspect of the Fox (once we get it) which allows you to move while firing Cobra/Steady Shot without interupting it. Wonder if anyone with beta access has tried this?

OfflineI can ask someone who both kites and strafes really well, at 85 in beta. Can I ask what you mean by swarm kiting so I don't screw it up in translation?
Also, there are several here in beta as well. Hopefully they will chime in after trying![]()

The biggest thing I miss about Volley is the fact that it was our only "ranged" spell that we could use in the "dead zone." It was reallly useful while doing strat runs or something, if you had half a dozen mobs on you and not on your pet, to be able to instantly volley and not have to kite them all and try to use multi-shot. Other than that, the damage seems lower from Multi-shot vs. Volley, but I'm not sure of that yet.
Edit: And there is the fact that Volley just looked alot cooler. Who doesn't want to rain arrows from the sky on their foes? ![]()

Swarm Kiting was a trick used in EQ 1, mostly by Bards but sometimes Wizards. It involved gathering up a mass of mobs and staying ahead of them (by snaring them or using some sort of speed increaser) while damaging all of them. Eventually they all die and you walk away unharmed.
I don't know that WoW has a lot of suitable places for this and you'd have to watch out for mobs that charge, snare or root. But it could still be fun.
I revisited the Frenzyhearts tonight, I didn't really need to kite them since they died pretty quickly. ![]()
I didn't even consider Enrage

OfflineLOL Skillz, you have a point there. I LOVE my disc priest's penance spell, it looks *so cool.* I can' think of anything my hunter has at the moment that is as flashy at all. And it's all about the flash, right?
Smaken, that is so very cool. I would love to try that, but you are right, it's hard when you are one-shotting things. I was watching someone play in Hyjal and he was grabbing some of the mobs and trying to kite a few, but they were just tossing him around. It was fun to watch though.
