i dunno if i should start stacking AP gems. been asking my friend thats a hunter (6k gs) and he no help

Your gems are perfect. Agility adds to attack power, I believe in a 1 to 2 ration (1 agi = 2 ap) Check the Gar's Guides for Gems here on the site. There's a wealth of information.
a 6K gear score indicates that they play a lot. They got lucky with drops, or earned the badges. It does not mean they are talented or know what they are talking about. It is the end of a gear cycle; having a 6K score is just a number now, and does not mean a thing, sadly enough.

Gear Score seem to rule these day
, as you say it's just a number, see it a lot now in trade channel with people LFM you can have a high GS and lousy DPS Don't see any one asking how much DPS you can lay down

It's even more than just dps. I see many getting all excited over "holy cow, dd you see that 20K crit??!!! man I am GOD…!!!!!" …then they step in the goo and die.
I long for the day when it's the overall contribution to the raid that is flaunted.

What is going to be funny is seeing all the crying these players are going to do if Blizz follows through with their promise to make Cataclysm more "strategic", like it was during vanilla WoW. All these people in WotLK that have put so much priority on gear score and dps are going to struggle, while those of us like Niika and myself are going to be like kids in a candy store.

Tak, oh god, you made my heart sing with that comment. I cannot wait. Remember when I was bemoaning not going to Survival when it seems like The Thing to Do, and that my heart belongs to Marksman? I am so looking forward to Cataclysm, and all the tempting changes it is bringing, so that it makes Hunter even more of a strategic class than any other.
rofl it just occurred to me that we can take ANY topic, ANY question, ANY suggestion, and turn it into a "I Can't Wait for Hunters in Cat!" thread….

Currently, in itemization 1 agi = 2 AP, but agi only gives 1 ap per point, but it also gives crit, and scales better with raid buffs.
In Cata, 1 agi will give 2 AP.

For a BM Hunter though AP gems are better yes?
Why do Agi gems scale better with raid buffs? And if that is the case I play BM hunter in raids should I therefore change all my gems to Agi?

AP used to be better for BM, and still is at very low gear levels, but once you head to ulduar levels of gearing and up, Agi is much better, since the nerf to BW and the shifting of more of the damage being done by the hunter rather than the pet.
As for why Agi scales better with raid buffs than AP, Kings.
