OfflineHello,
I just recently came across this site, and so far I am loving it! I was looking for a bit of advice on the PvE aspect of my Hunter; such as: Gear – Rotation – Build, etc. Below will be an Armory link, and a few screenshots.
Thanks,
Latemkid.

OfflineHi Latem, welcome to the Lodge.
You may get better advice than mine (it wouldn't be hard) but there are a few obvious things (well, to me, anyways…)
If this is your PVP set, you need to maximise Crit and Survivability. Put the Pilgrim Hat and Chest in your treasure Chest until transmogrification is available and replace them with some gear with stats. While on gear, you don't have a shoulder enchant, I'd be looking toward that.
I'm assuming you use BM for PVP and SV for PVE, so the next remarks are along those lines…
This is what I would do… I am not saying you should, or need to do it… just my opinion, and, well, you asked…
BM
Ditch Sic 'em and put those 2 points into Improved Steady Shots. I know SS is not as important for a BM as for a MM, but you'll still be using it a lot and the quicker you can get through them, the better.
Ditch Focus Fire and put that point into Improved Mend Pet. Pets tend to take more damage in PVP than in PVE and the extra bandaids will help.
Ditch Killing Streak and put those points into Hidden Tiger Crouching Chimera. Survivability is king in PVP so any reduction in your two survival skills has to be good.
Reconsider Pathing. I find in PVP you don't really get into long shooting matches, and as you don't use Serpent Sting you wont be getting extra tics of it's poison. I'd put these points into Stamina so you might take an extra hit or two.
SV
Not too much I'd change here, though I'd be looking for a way to put points into Entrapment, it will help in large add packs. Having said that, I'd look at replacing the points you have in Go for the Throat into Improved Kill Command. While KC is not your signature shot in SV, in my opinion it is still one of your hardest hitting "shots" and is NEVER affected by random numbers. Every chance you have to make 6000/12000 damage every 5 seconds into 7200/14400 in my opinion should be taken.
Other than that, I'd be reading as much stuff on this site as you can. Churn through the archives too… they are full of gold.
Have fun.
Cheers,
D

I would not recommend this. BM uses Cobra Shot to regen focus. It hits far harder then Steady Shot would. As for the haste from Improved Steady, BM has things such as Focus Fire for that purpose.
"Ditch Focus Fire and put that point into Improved Mend Pet. Pets tend to take more damage in PVP than in PVE and the extra bandaids will help."
Definately keep Focus Fire. See my first response as to why. Improved Mend Pet does not improve healing, its just a cleanse for diseases and such. I recommend putting your points elsewhere.
SV

I recommend staying away from Kill Command unless your BM. It uses far to much focus. SV's hard hitting special comes in the form of Explosive Shot. Use Cobra Shot to regen your focus.

OfflineYour build looks great Latem5 – I wouldn't recommend changing it, but you may want to consider Glyph of Disengage over the Mend Pet glyph. The shorter cooldown on Disengage increases your ability to position quickly, which can be important for PvE encounters. Glyph of Mending isn't going to make the difference if your pet is about to die in a raid.
However, if you're not doing any raid content, then don't worry about it.

OfflineWelcome to the joint Latem5
As your question was directed towards BM PvE you need Kill Command-it's our 'signature shot' and you want to keep Cobra Shot for focus regeneration and the other reasons Takaas pointed out. The only time I use Steady is if I come up against a mob that resists nature damage. I would keep Focus Fire if you're doing solo, 5mans raids or whatever. It comes in handy regardless if you gain the 5 stacks or not. Again this applies specifically to your BM PvE question.
If you find you're running out of focus, work on aspect switching from hawk to fox and back. You can macro these abilities into your shots along with others as keyboard space for hunters is at a premium-see Garwulfs Macro page. Typically Fox, for us BM hunters is only so we can pop off cobra on the move while generating focus, which you'll be doing a lot of. Have fun.

OfflineHaha,
Thanks for the advice guys; so what rotation –BM is my PvP and PvE spec, I really don't like Survival for some reason– would put me at the maximum DPS for what I currently have?
I've read all of the 4.2 -even though 4.3 is approaching rapidly- hunter garb as to what rotations are good; it's just I'd rather get opinions from more than one person. I prioritize my rotation around Kill Command – I'll usually start off with a Serpent Sting and a few arcane shots, then I use Kill Command; I'll Cobra Shot in between, and use Arcane Shot and some other shots as my Focus 'Fills', so I don't cap.
Thanks Again,

OfflineOnce again, take what I have to say with a grain of salt… (lol)
I'ts not really a rotation, more like a priority…
Opening salvo should comprise… Hunter's Mark, Serpent Sting…
I usually go…
HM, SS, (Concussive if soloing), Arcane…. That should have my pet on target, then swing into
Kill Command every 5 seconds,
Cobra Shot to renew SS & build focus
Arcane Shot as a filler.
When I want to turn up the heat…
At full focus… Bestial Wrath, Pop trinkets, Kill Command every 5 seconds, Arcane to nearly no focus, Fervor, Arcane to no focus then Cobra back to top… BW should be ready to go again then (though trinkets will be on CD this time around)
As well as popping trinkets you might want to consider downing a haste pot or a crit pot or do so while trinkets are on CD.
Of course, if my target enrages, I throw down a Tranquilizing Shot or a Widow Venom if there is a healing helping him/her, and of course react to any environmental or enemy melee incidents.
I don't know too much (well, anything) about NE racials… but if they boost anything use them too if you like.
Now stand by for the good advice…

OfflineMany a veteran will chime in but for me, in PvP there really is no rotation. It's whatever works and is ready at the time. Strafing you'll want to become proficient at and concussive you'll be using a lot given we have to run away a fair amount from really speedy foes. Pretty situational thing. Lots of reading and practice. One thing for sure, if you aren't always moving you're dead unless you're playing a bunch of zombies. Given they seem to be a rarely played class, movement is important. I asked in the PvP forum few weeks back. I think it's 'Ask experts advice from a total noob' or something along those lines. Just look for any post by "Agio", it's synonymous with noob and mediocrity. A lot of information was given. Maybe give it a read. If you don't start crying at the difficulties as I did, it has a whack of good comments.
As for PvE rotation. BM is pretty simple PvE-as in we ain't got much
Soloing a boss I do HM, SS , send in the hound , pop Bestial Wrath and lead off with KC or Arcane, depends. You 'should" get 2 Kill Commands and 6-7 Arcane Shots off during BR then switch to Cobra to regen focus and refresh SS then crank KC and Arcane until Kill Shot is ready. Anytime that's up you of course use it-Kill Shot that is. Trash is traps-usually explosive launched, misdirection on pet, send in the hound, multi then KC and Arcane to finish em off. That's solo though, dunno anything about the group thing. Very good idea to get into the habit of using Fervor often as well, any situation.
Suggest you read Garwulfs Guides on most everything-it's all there. He's a helluva PvPer and plays BM.
Maybe check out warcraft hunters union as well-pretty hardcore raid site but excellent info.
