Anyone got any tips on stopping a Rogue from vanishing after you have detected them and they are attempting to run? I can find them with Gar's handy dandy "detect stealth" macro, then start pounding on them, but then they simply vanish and run off. I flare the area, but they always seem to find a way out of the flare and use vanish (or whatever it is) and run off. I've tried spamming Hunter's Mark and it doesn't seem to stop them either.

Try nailing them with Serpent Sting right off the bat or as soon as you get range before you start hammering them. Druids as well.

Not knowing you aren't supposed to be able to achieve something often ensures that you will.   Book of Agio 22:2

Like everything else, Rogues have an answer for this.  http://www.wowhead.com/spell=1856

For me, once I've detected a Druid they won't get to restealth.  They are just a pain in the arse to kill with their healing and damage reducing buffs. Scare Beast and Tranq Shot are quite effective.

Rogues have two answers actually. Vanish & Cloak of Shadows, but by putting SS on them once you have em in your sights it forces them to use one of the 2 CD's. So if you get it on them and HM it makes them weaker a few seconds more into the fight which gives us an edge. I have SS macroed into Gars anti rogue/feral but as both are on GCD I need to spam it, SS goes off 1st btw. Usually I SS then HM them seperately. Quite often, especially in a RBG they miss one. Plus if they dispell HM, you can spam it as it costs no focus. Again they have to get rid of two to stealth. Neither prevents them from vanishing , not supposed to, but it does force them to use Vanish and or CoS. I find it relatively effective depending on how skilled the rogue is. If they vanish, no worries, they'll be back but minus a CD or two. That being said I don't waste a lot of time trying repeatedly to apply SS or HM on rogues. I open with it , pop a concussive or launch an ice trap to slow them and try to burn em down. Again this is only in BG's.

Ferals are a different matter but as I said, it gives us an edge with both classes and I personally need every edge, no matter how small I can get against them. *shrug*

Thanks for the info! I shall look to put it to use.

It seemed to me that Hunter's Mark use to prevent rogue's from hiding from us – certainly not so anymore.  Like Agio, I still put it on them first thing just to irritate them and make them waste a vanish or CoS.  What they often do if you get the jump on them is Vanish and Sprint.  That's why you don't find them in the area with a flare.  Since they disappear after I tag them, I often hold off on using any cooldowns initially and will flare near myself or my arena partner, lay an ice trap at my back, and start pounding their partner until they come back to thump one of us.  Sometimes, if they are close and if there is limited LoS in the area, I will hit them with a glyphed concussive shot, flare, and chase them down.

In BG's, I HM and shoot them as long as I can see them.  When they disappear, I flare/ice trap myself or healer and forget about them til I see they come back.
