Hey Garwulf,

I noticed your profile doesen't have a Core Hound anymore so I'm wondering what pet you think is best for Arena.

That's going to depend somewhat upon your team composition.

Right now I'm using a Silithid and liking it quite a bit. Players have been a lot more aggressive (smarter) in going after my pet this season. For this reason, cunning pets are working out best for me due to a good balance of damage and survivability talents, as well as the best CC of all pets.

The 45 second lockdown on Venom Web Spray is pretty awesome. Plus, if they are to trinket it, then they have to eat my 3 second Intimidation. I'm planning on sticking with the Silithid as long as we continue to go up in ranking, albeit slowly.

My 2 cents…

Double DPS – Chimaera or Silithid

Healer / DPS – Core Hound

Hunter/Melee DPS/Healer – Core Hound or Worm

Hunter/Caster DPS/Healer – Core Hound

For 5s, I'd say any of the 4 mentioned pets would work depending upon the team makeup.

Core Hound will obviously provide the most DPS, but a worm will actually contribute more overall DPS if your team has 2 or more melee.

Chimaera and Silithid would be decent choices for 5s as well.

Excellent post, thanks for the info.

Currently I run 3's with a Ret paly and a Dis priest. So I been using a core hound, I will have to give that silthid a try see how it goes.

another tip of mine which i hafe come up to recently is a ravager that 2 sec stun is just life saving man but im mm you proberly bm, i got a ret pally and if we oppose a healing team and we nuke healer i set my pet in and start serpent chimera that time the 2 sec stun is over then a silencing shot, another 3 sec and by that time he is mostly dead if not a readines and another chimera plus silencing will get the job done icon_biggrin

Ravagers are indeed great for MM hunters. In fact, that's what I like to use when I PvP as marks. And yes… I love how that spec + the stun is hell on casters. I feel like I'm mugging them every time I engage one.
