PvP Gear Faux Pas?

Just a thought to fill the quiet of late.  icon_smile

For my PvP set I have a full "Captain's" transmog gear set.  I use the same weapon for raiding and PvP, even though it doesn't really "match" the gear.  I had thought of using http://www.wowhead.com/item=27526 (Skyfire Hawk-Bow – a.k.a kissing gold skunk bow!) because it looks cool and is similar in color to my gear.  Then I was in a BG, and saw this hunter with it.  Yeah, I thought it looked cool – but the first thing I thought was "hey look, a hunter, kill it!".

My thought/question is, do you think it matters whether we stick out like a sore thumb in PvP?  With all of the add-ons that make it easier to ID certain classes, it may not matter for some, but I don't know how many people really have that.  I often rely on being somewhat inconspicuous when burning down the enemy, standing in a bush, slightly behind a rock, or….. in a tauren.  Having a huge bow may give away too much information too quickly and easily to the enemy, I think.  Learned opinions would be appreciated.

I think it's pretty hard to hide what class we are, especially since there is usually some form a pet trailing us. Beastmaster especially stands out with their exotic beasts. (A fellow guildie uses non-exotic pets as BM when PvPing to throw some people off.) So, trying to hide that you are a Hunter is kind of futile in my opinion.

Now, making so that your harder to pick out in your surroundings, etc., there is possibility there. (Heh….I love the hiding in a tauren thing!) I too like to hide in places and snipe people. I usually chose something "Hunterish", meaning something thats a sort of "camo" look to it.(My current gear doesn't reflect this, its very purple.) It's probably debatable if it truly makes a difference, but I do it anyways. (It also helps that I'm Goblin and smaller in stature, so easier for me to hide in bushes, etc.)
