After a little over two months since I embarked on my "Why in the f**k would any player choose to play a hunter in PvP?" journey I am perplexed by a few things so I have come to those with more wisdom for the answers that I seek.  Now, I have, like a good lil camper, read a great deal, watched some spiffy vids and implemented many of the 647 macros we seem to need however a few things still vex me.

Much of the vids and advice seems to pertain to arena which makes sense given it's a much more controlled situation than a random BG. But in a random it seems much of this doesn't apply given you usually don't go one on one, am I right? Usually you're kiting a whatever or trying to and you get jumped by another player or six.

So I've questions. Keep in mind I'm a terrible PvP player so be kind. Oh, yes I use deterrence, yes I trinket, yes I use traps, yes I use pet CC's. I sad I was terrible, not an idiot.

1. How do you keep range? No class aside from another hunter lacks the ability to blow through all my wonderful cc's. I clip em or scatter, disengage, pop a concussive while in mid air and yup, their they are-right on top of me again. Swirling around me visiting great pain upon my lil helpless dwarf bod while I'm stunned or what the hell ever. So advice please.

2. Do the majority of you stand back and plink away? I do see that a fair bit but meh, boring. May be that's it. I'm stupidly proactive. I'll see a team mate getting humped-especially if it's a healer and mouseover MC, deterrrence and traps etc to try and save the healer. Thusly putting me in gank range. Hell I'm like a spastic puppet on speed in a BG. Mistake?

3. Even though I'm sure my ineptness is a lot of the problem is every other gd class stupidly overpowered or are hunters just well kinda gimped? I loathe seeing "Absorb" 'Absorb' 'Absorb' 'Absorb'  I mean really, these classes are like some uber paper towel. Don't mind, I love the challenge, just asking.

4. I can handle most classes IF it's one on one-which it ain't, a stupid rogue and occasionally a pally-depending on make and model but arms warrior and feral druid and all those fkn casters? Please. I really don't need icon_eek00 words on ideal situational handling of each class. There is plenty of that around and as I said, One v One, in my limited experience doesn't happen much, if at all, in a BG. So I'm imploring the likes of Garwulf and Garwulf and Garwulf and any other BM hunters for advice. MM seems to have an edge but I ain't playing MM (show me a spider, I'll show you a MM hunter Surprised) Either that or gimme a hug.  Don't make me post Screenshots of my BG stats!

Thanky.

I don't even have a spider in "on call" roster anymore. 75% of the time I have my monkey with me. He helps me greatly with those pesky Rogues and OP Feral Druids.

Well Agio, I've not much experience in PvP , probably less than you,  but given most of the experienced BM PvP'ers are  transmorgifying since the release of 4.3 to get that 'right gear look' I'll do my best until they get some time.

First, it probably is your lousy play, well I know it is. I've had reports on this, but not everyone can be a BM PvP hunter so take heart. You can always roll a retro-rogue or a feral-paladin. As for the one-on-one scenario in a BG, I rarely if ever experience the situation you describe, usually all my fights are one-on-one. Keep in mind you're new. In awhile players from the opposition team will get familiar with you and then you can meet up with them mid-field and go skipping off together to a nice secluded spot and beat the hell out of each other with no interference. If you're in the Gilneas BG, you can even fight under the rainbow-it's quite romantic. I still get tummy flutters before every Gilneas BG. Lastly, keep in mind many of these vids and detailed guides are from long term very experienced expert players who think random BG's are well, kinda fruity. But isn't the music great? Oh yeah, get a Razer Naga-gotta have one.

I'll try and address the rest point by point.

1. In this area I'm not really sure I see the problem. It's probably a lack of practice on your part. Typically what I do is initially use a shale spider, start kiting, drop an ice trap, dismiss the shale spider, bring out the Razza, pop off a concussive shot while the razza is frost breathing the druid or rogue or whatever, disengage, dismiss the Razza, bring out the monkey, blind the opponent, dismiss the monkey, call my spirit beast then log on to my Rift account and blast em from there-it's known as 'extreme kiting'. It takes a little practice but if you have all the pets bound to keys and your Rift window open your WoW toon hops right in and continues the BG. It's really best if you have a flare up while doing all of the above so you don't get ganked from behind in WoW or by some WoW wannabe playin Rift. Best to keybind macro flare/Rift as well. That takes care of the druids and such.

2. We are a ranged class afterall so distance is important so we plink-it's what we do. We are the plinkage masters plus we have a pet. What more do you want?  You're not a melee class. Also, never put yourself in harms way to save another player. Odds are you'll both end up dead. Best to send in your pet and cc the opposition. I find a monkey or the razza effective, usually I swap the pets out. You'll probably want a mouseover macro on a keybind for each pet and it's specific abilities to optimize this-keybind these as well. Also, keep in mind if the other player, if not a hunter, got in a jam, well you can't be everything to everyone. I mean where were they when you needed help? They all secretly hate hunters anyhow so f**k em.

3. It's your ineptness. Right now as Blizzard tells us, Hunters are in a great spot balance wise. Afterall we have Scattershot and a pet. Plus we can always pop a healing potion on the fly for an insta-heal of 20k. As for the absorb comment, I really think this is a cooldown management issue on your part. Once you utilize all of your pets abilities and have your timing optimized and have said properly macroed/keybound, all other classes are pretty weak compared to hunters. Don't forget to use Tranqulizing shot as well-preferably in a macro. It's a whopper. I've had more than one frost mage log out of a BG after using it on them.

4. Unless someone is holding a gun to your head, spec MM. I mean how many BM PVP hunters do you see as opposed to MM? Must be a reason for it. But really, aside from Silencing shot they don't have much of an edge over BM in PvP. You chose BM because you have a thing for taming dead critters for pets, deal with it.

It's not a matter of the number of words other players use when they give advice about other classes you battle against. You're seeing it all wrong. The idea is to incorporate all of the information into one aggregate strategy and then apply all of it while in a BG. It's best to have a few add-ons so you can identify what class you're up against, when they are going to cast or proc, when your shots, procs and cc's are about to come off cooldown , when you have to pick the wife up from work, if you need milk n such and when to take a potty break. You'll mant to macro/keybind all of these as well. Lastly, if they've not transmorgified their gear yet and you can't beat them, well Diablo III is coming soon. It will take some time but once you get used to not being able to see anything on the screen aside from the add-on information the game is much more enjoyable. To get around this, buy a bigger monitor for the time being. It makes things look less 'busy'

I hope this helps and *hug*

Did Aggie just talk to himself…? Anyway.

Just keep in mind the ancient Counter-Strike/Team Fortress wisdom: "STICK TOGETHER, TEAM."

1v1 strategies are useful because you eventually learn other classes' strengths and weaknesses. But in a BG, don't expect to play a hero and win using the same tactics unless you're Brang, Bandet, Nikedunks or whoever (i.e. you're uber-experienced). Shift gears and apply the vs. individual tactics to team play. Stick with a large group and assist each other. You take down more baddies that way.

Bonus points if you sing the Power Rangers theme during team combat. Cool

If a Tauren Hunter and a Tauren Druid marry and have children, you will end up with BraveStarr and Thirty-Thirty.

Why yes , yes I did Gryzor. Team play in a random Battle Ground? Tell that to my "team mates" Herding cats Sir, herding cats. I certainly hope you weren't admonishing me about playing hero. This is me Gryzor, typically I hide in camo at a rez spot and wait for it all to be over.

Lol, "playing hero" is what some people tend to do…like overzealous Death Knights, Stealthers and Paladins. It always seems to be them for some reason. They charge right in the thick of things screaming First Blood–without any backup–and end up seeking eternal vengeance on whoever it is that melted their face 5 seconds after the rush began.

That said, I also use it as a metaphor for people who run alone in a BG–my bad. Maybe I should have just said "don't go alone". It works in Contra but not in WoW. icon_razz

Also, you don't need to herd cats for team play, mind you. icon_smile Just stick close to a relatively large group and help them to survive. Eventually they'll start watching your back too. I've seen it happen a lot of times, and some of those moments led to a come-from-behind victory.

As MM I go "sniper mode" in battlegrounds.

I tend to stick to the back of groups and am never the first one into an area. I'm usually the only one pestering healers while the rest try in vain to bring down the guy(s) he/she is healing.I keep my monkey at my side for when a Rogue or Feral Druid attempt to gank me, which is pretty much a 100% guaranteed thing.

I don't know how you guys feel about addons, but thinking specifically of that "sniper mode" Tak mentioned- I use an addon called Healers Must Die that puts a but Red Cross + over the head of the enemy healers. Along with Tidy Plates it makes the Alliance healers easy pickin's in BGs.

Widow Venom-Tranq-Scatter etc.

I likes killin' me some healers.
