Hunter Set Bonuses

March 5, 2010

Frostheim’s put together a fantastic analysis of hunter set bonuses in his Scattered Shots column over at WoW.com. For those of you curious as to which set bonuses to go for, this is a must read.
I imagine most of you are familiar with his work over there, but if not, do yourself a favor and [...]

Hit Rating

March 1, 2010

This is a topic I’ve covered many times in the past, but I feel compelled to revisit it today. Why, you ask..?
It’s been brought to my attention that many hunters these days are grossly exceeding the hit cap, and therefore are wasting precious DPS. I figure this is due to a few reasons…

The misunderstanding of [...]

New epic loot dispenser in VoA

February 3, 2010

Meet the latest Vault of Archavon loot Piñata, Toravon the Ice Watcher. If you beat on him long enough he’ll drop some ilvl264+ gear, and maybe even an epic mount. Unlike the other 3 bosses in VoA, Toravon only drops 3 pieces of epic loot, but who can complain..?
If you haven’t yet attempted this boss, [...]

Deathbringer’s Will

February 3, 2010

Greetings again all you intrepid hunters. With your permission I’ll be sidestepping my usual exotic hunter tanking topics to discuss the much more mainstream subject of hunter DPS. The focus of today’s journey is a little toy I managed to snag a couple weeks ago, the trinket, Deathbringer’s Will.
For those of you in the know, [...]

So… Why didn’t I get a raid invite?

January 20, 2010

As a raid leader, part of my job is to choose who comes on a raid and who sits in Dalaran waiting in the random heroic PuG queue.
At first glance, this sounds like a glamorous job that everyone should aspire to in the game of WoW. I almost always get to go on the raid. [...]

December 24, 2009

Hello readers and happy holidays! I hope you are all having a relaxing break, and don’t have a multitude of ruffians that are in your charge for the next week or so until their mothers come back and claim them. Obnoxious, rowdy ruffians who continuously want to play Pokémon with you and will not leave [...]

Supporting your tank: Silencing Shot

Silencing Shot – the new “Tank’s Best Friend”

Hiya hunter friends!
I was running heroic Forge of Souls the other day and had an epiphany. I thought this was a widely-used Marksman hunter trick, but it is absolutely possible that many of you out there spec’d into Silencing Shot do not know about one of its [...]

Team Deadeye Clears Heroic Nexus

December 21, 2009

Hello again all you happy hunters!
As I began gathering interest with this endeavor in my guild, we’ve formed a regular group of hunters and one gutsy healer. “Team Deadeye”, as we lovingly call ourselves, has made a few Heroic 5-man runs so far. Today we’ll be following our journey into the Nexus.
It began simply enough, [...]

Gear Score vs. Skill

December 18, 2009

Names have been obliterated to protect the innocent. The subject we’re about to tackle is fraught with misconceptions, half-formed opinion and occasionally a self-satisfied, self-serving attitude that’s both completely unjustified and (in the worst cases) completely silly.
We’re talking gear score vs. skill. Here’s the typical trade post: “LFM 25 ONY MUST HAS MIN 2500 GEAR [...]

Why didn’t I think of this..?!

December 14, 2009

This is an excerpt from an e-mail I’d received from one of my site visitors, and probable future contributors, regarding the Deathbringer Saurfang encounter.
