I See Spirit Beasts

Gondria

Two to be exact. In one night no less.

Within an hour or two of taming Skoll, I ran into Gondria while looking for Terror Spinner.

It’s so funny… I looked for nearly two weeks on the patch 3.1 PTR and never saw hide nor hair, nor ghostly aura of Gondria anywhere. Because I’d already had Loque’nahak in my stable, I hadn’t really pursued Gondria all that hard after the patch went live, but I still looked on occasion.

Now that I’ve sworn off Beast Mastery for awhile, it’s raining Spirit Beasts. Oh well…

While Gondria definitely looks impressive in-game, stable slots are a precious few right now, so I decided to pass. I really didn’t need to grab Skoll, but he was there… what else was I supposed to do..?! I can resist anything but temptation. ;)

I just took the opportunity to grab a few screenies. I didn’t bother taming Gondria, but instead just went on my way hoping he’d be there for some lucky BM Hunter out looking for him. I could have killed him, but that’s bad rare spawn Karma. You do know that right..? ;)

I think the greater gods of the BM tree are trying to tell you something!

Of all spirit beasts, Gondria seems the least popular for some reason. I have found her easily on my second or third run around Zul’Drak and she was actually my first Spirit Beast to tame. Now that I’m missing at least one slot in the stables I was considering abandoning her but she is just too cute.
Perhaps it is what Uchikoma mentioned (which I actually hope it is ;)

I refuse to camp for rare beasts as its just not my personal thing, but OMG I WANT KING KRUSH!!! That is the one i’ve always looked for while cruising around mining and have yet to find. /sigh

Loque > anything

Gondira on the other hand… is very ugly I think. Old model with a transparent skin, sigh!

I dinged 80 about 3 weeks ago and I tamed Gondria this past Sunday to finish off my trifecta of spirit beasts. I started with Skoll the first week, Loque the second and then Gondria. I don’t have the time to raid so, as a 5-man dweller, I roll as BM because how much dps do you need in 5-mans anyway, right?

My last two slots are my Bear, Cutler, who was the first pet I ever tamed and I can’t imagine parting with him. The other slot belongs to my Core Hound that I solo tamed in MC when I was lvl 78. As I hunt for Krush, it is the Core Hound that travels with me to be abandoned in the event i stumble upn the Mean Green Machine.

With the addition of the new LW drums, I have decided to attempt to solo the big guy. Fully buffed in the cheap stam gear I have bought, I weigh in at just a shade over 25k hp. I know I will need all KINDS of luck (finding him and then getting a break on the roars and damage taken) but this is EXACTLY the reason I rolled a hunter in the first place. I don’t care about topping the Recount meter. I want to HUNT rare beasties and bend them to my will!

To the rest of you searching for the King, keep huntering!

@ Bob

Good luck hunting Krush. That was undoubtedly one of the greatest Huntery “Feats of Strength” I’ve accomplished. Solo-taming him at 80 should be an achievement, and I agree… things like taming Krush are what I enjoy most about the Hunter class. Anyone can do damage, but we’re the only class that has the ability to go out and… well you said it best, tame rare beasties and bend them to our will.

I hope that the 10 seconds of TBW is enough. Good luck my man.

I’ve done Toc10man with a nice pug and there was a BM hunter with me (200-219 gear, few 226). 4800DPS more or less, not bad at all, really.

People that choose to play BM because they like it and know what they’re doing can profit from it. Although I like Beast Mastery, I choose to spec otherwise because I know I can gain about 15%-20% more DPS by doing so.

I’m always impressed when I see good BM Hunters who are able to claw their way up Recount.

Well Garwulf, I’m disappointed!

You’ve never tried out a Silithid at lvl 80 in the battlegrounds have you? I barely have any Ulduar 25 gear on but it’s enough for me to slaughter the masses in there. Yes, I’m killed more easily but there’s never been a rogue that’s been able to kill me if I have one of my PvP “defensive abilities” up. (BW, trinket) I’ve almost never used Krush except for raids however Gezarrak the Huntress has been very handy in Eye of the Storm because of being able to warp across all of the gaps and over obstacles to nab people I either can’t see or know I need a pet that will get there quickly and be able to survive in a crowd of Horde as the fight rages on. All of my activities are performed in Beast Mastery. I have two specs, one for PvP and one for PvE. I’m still the bane of Warlocks, Shamans, Feral Druids, half of Deathknights with the ones I can’t beat presumably outgearing me, Rogues, Warriors, some Paladins, and most of the priests I come across. Mages are the only class I used to hammer that give me a little more trouble with the change to BW being a little more in their favor to begin with. A few simple rules I play by are..

Only use BW when you really need to, or when you know you’ll be able to live while the CD is still ticking. Use Deterrence and run towards the melee if he’s close to begin with. When it wears off as your pet is still chewing away at him make a macro and use it that consists of Disengage/Frost Trap. I assume you know this already. I just thought I’d throw it in there. (I have yet to thoroughly read the macros page of this site) Use it against just about anyone you need more range on or think the pet could handle and cause you to survive by staying out of range. I’ve killed plenty of SV hunters with my warp stalker and my Silithid. Travel with the group when you can. Use a Silithid (really does help, a net with a DoT and Intimidation) If they release the ability for us to choose the tree for our pet I’m definitely getting a Ferocity Ravager as BM. I’ve played this spec since I’ve began playing in mid-BC. I don’t plan on changing.

Haha, I should. The real thorns in my foot though are resto druids when I’m trying to kill them off. It just takes a while but the classes that want to be healed by that druid often fix things for them. Balance druids are tricky as well along with Prot warriors and many Paladins. Some I can kill with ease as long as I pay attention to what I’m doing. Shadow priests are hard for me to kill as well but I think I’ve got Disc down. The one thing I do have to complain about is that there is no way we should have to rely on Bestial Wrath as our burst, and that’s what’s happening right now. They’ve nerfed it for survivability reasons but where is our DPS?

Buff Arcane shot for BM hunters, as it was mentioned in the hunter Q&A.

Marksmanship > pallies. lol. Aimed, Chimera, arcane, silence, readiness, wingclip/disengage, repeat with a kill shot. mmmm. So fun.

Yea, that is good fun Roar. Although I also enjoy firing dynamite into their head. That’s good stuff too.

Hi Chris. Thanks for the praise. I’ll have some posts coming up about my UI and addons, as well as a downloadable file for those that want to try out the compilation of mods.

As I’ve been promising this for weeks now, I can’t exactly say when it’s going to happen, but quite soon I hope. Just keep checking back.

Nice screenshot. That thing is pretty creepy looking indeed. I’ve only seen one or two Hunters with it on my server. A very cool and frightening pet. Plus, the web is OP for PvP.

I decided to go with a crab, but I may grab a spider too. If I do, I’ll be on the hunt for Terror Spinner again.
