The UI that is… This has been a long time coming, but the more I procrastinated, the more I figured I should just wait until after the patch. Anyone who’s tinkered with their user interface knows of the fallout that occurs after any major content patch. My intention was to redo it tonight, but I don’t see that happening. It’s been a long day and I’m wiped.
I did manage to do some pre-planning though. I went to Curse and checked to see which of my favorite addons have been updated and which have not. So far it appears most of them have, aside from a select few. As expected, my screen’s been rife with pop-up error windows since the patch. I’m going to take this new redesign slow, ensuring that everything I install is 3.2 compliant.
While conducting my search for developer updates, I found a few interesting alternatives to popular addons that I’m going to try out. My goal with this new user interface is efficiency and functionality. I’m eliminating any of the unneeded fluff and making a few minor tweaks where I feel they’re needed.
Most of my WoW “career” has been spent playing without the use of addons, but the moment I started messing with things I was hooked. I’ve since tried at times to go back to the stock UI, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. UI customization is like an art form to me. I really enjoy laboring over a new UI design, as well as poring through dozens upon dozens of other players’ screenshots for inspiration.
Check back in a few days to see what I’ve arrived at. A full feature on my UI will be up next week as well.
