Hunter Weak Auras Strings

Update: At the launch of Warlords of Draenor I’m down to using only 6 Weak Auras, but here they are in case anyone wants to use them! These are up-to-date as of Patch 6.0.2.

Hello again!

I’m going to put together a more comprehensive guide for Weak Auras, but in the meantime…I figured I’d share my WA strings for you tech-savvy folks who are familiar with the addon and its import feature.

For those of you who don’t know about the Weak Auras addon of which I speak, it’s a form of heads-up notification for cooldowns, procs, buffs, debuffs, etc… It’s a very powerful addon, which I’ve come to rely on quite a bit, just as I used to with Power Auras.

Here are the Hunter Weak Auras I have configured, along with a description of each function. I’ve included the strings so that you can try them out if you like. If you’re not sure what to do with these things, then leave a comment below and I’ll try to assist you, or you can hold on for a bit until I get a walk through guide up for Weak Auras.

Keep in mind that the majority of them are there to notify me of something that needs doing. Most of the auras do not display unless I need to do something or monitor an important spell or ability.

Enjoy!

Bestial Wrath

This is a simple countdown timer which gives an in-your-face visual cue for your Bestial Wrath duration. It lights up when the ability is popped, then ticks down like an hourglass.

Heal Your Damn Pet!

This aura shows when BlueCrabGuy is below 60% health. When it appears, I know it’s time to send him some Mend Pet love.

Kill Shot

This notification pops up and pulses when Kill Shot is queued and ready. I have it set to display right by my target frame so it grabs my attention when it comes time to deliver the pain, no matter how busy and chaotic the fight.

Mend Pet

This is a simple timer for Mend Pet showing the duration of the heal. It’s basically there so I can time my pet heals without having to waste an unnecessary global cooldown.

No Pet!

The whistle shows up when my pet has run off, been killed, or any other time when my pet isn’t out and I’m not mounted or at rest. This is a really useful aura. There are countless times where us hunters take for granted that our pets are automatically summoned when we dismount, leave a vehicle, zone into a BG or arena, but you’d be surprised (or perhaps you’re not) by how many times our pets don’t reappear. This aura provides an easy to see notification of when you’re petless.

Trap Launcher

I like to toggle back and forth a lot with Trap Launcher so this handy little visual right by my unit frames quickly tells me whether I have it activated or not.

So there ya go! My Weak Auras strings.

I have nowhere near the amount of auras configured that I used to use with Power Auras, but that’s due to me deferring a few of the notifications to Raven. Raven is the bee’s knees when it comes to cooldowns, buff and debuff durations, and misc notifications. Tomber has built an amazing addon with Raven, which I’ll talk more about it in a future post.

If you have some suggestions for additional Weak Auras, please let me know. I’ll be compiling a more in-depth guide and it’d be great to add some other helpful auras to it. I’m just a simple Beast Master, so I may have missed a few which could be useful for MM or SV hunters. If you have some ideas to share, please do!

    • No, Marketfresh, these have not been updated for 6.0. I’ve been wanting to update these along with my UI compilation, but I’ve not been able to get around to it yet. Maybe over the weekend. I may have a little time then, and I’ll be pretty fired up with all of the BlizzCon coverage. I’m sure I can make some time to get these updated. 🙂

  1. Oh the other comment didn’t show up, sorry for being brisk this morning, was trying to hard to grab them from your sites source code and was going mad. 😛

  2. The code wraps across the page now, think you need to put in word-wrap: break-word; for the pre css. Also thanks for these – setting up my UI again and it’s quite helpful!

  3. Bestial Wrath doesn’t seem to be triggering correctly and I’m bad with stuff like this so I can’t figure it out.

  4. I cant seem to get the Mend Pet or No Pet aura to work even tho I’ve just copy/pasted it into weak auras. But the Serpent Sting one works just fine.
    How am I failing? lol
